Has anyone eaten here that liked it? We have never eaten here & thought we'd give it a try on our upcoming trip. But, most of the reviews I have read say it's TERRIBLE & several people even report getting sick after dining here. I'm seriously considering a change of plan.

DH and I like it. It's not the "best" food on WDW property but it's good. Especially if you like buffets. DH loves to eat and I am a picky eater so it's easier for me to find something I like if there is a large variety. The cornbread casserole thing is awesome!!! It's also a good choice if you want to add the Fantasmic dinner package to your meal (doesn't cost extra - but ensures that you'll have a seat to see Fantasmic without waiting in a long line). In my opinion, it doesn't hurt to try it once and form your own opinion.

We like it. We loved the "spoon bread". It was kinda like cornbread, but had creamed corn in it.

We liked it. I mean it wasn't amazing but tasty. They had really good salads.

I went for lunch and I also liked it. I thought it was one of the better character buffets for that time of day. I am very picky and found PLENTY to eat and wouldn't complaint about any of it.

My DS liked the kids choices plus he ate some of the "adult" foods. He also liked the character interaction best there.

I ate there in January, and I didn't find a whole lot that appealed to me. There were a lot of salad type things and I don't like not knowing what I'm eating (esp. if it has mayo or salad dressing). The desserts were really good, but I did actually get sick after eating here. Now who knows why I got sick. Could have been from anything and (as bad as I felt) it didn't feel painful like food poisoning. I would go if you want to go. Everybody's opinion is different, and you may love it.

Hey if you want to try it then try it. I always say you have to try things for yourself and see if you like it.

We didn't care for it...I mean it's kind of boring in there and the atmosphere was just kind of bizzare. The food was ok, didn't make us sick lol. I just don't think it's worth a shot but if you want to then try it.

I'm going to try Sci Fi and that gets mixed reviews as well but just because I see a negative review it won't stop me from trying.

We enjoyed dinner there last summer. Good variety on the buffet, great kids activity sheet, attentive server (Brenda)...awesome air conditioning (funny how that matters at WDW!).

Some absolutely hate it, not us. I had booked the character meal, but plans changed so we'll have to try it next trip.

We did the Play 'n Dine Character breakfast last February and really loved it! We'd do it again this time but I want to try the other character meals too. We're going to skip it this time but definitely do it again the following year (2010)! Especially since my littlest will be 3 then and I'm sure really into the characters!
My husband really enjoyed the food and he's as picky as they come.

We had breakfast there last fall and thoroughly enjoyed it. The food was good and the characters were great.

We're trying lunch on our next trip.

My sister and her boyfriend had dinner there for a Fantasmic package and they really liked it. They could think of nothing at all negative to say.

If it weren't for the characters or a Fantasmic package though, I'd choose Sci Fi over Holly & Vine. My entire family loves Sci Fi.

We had dinner there and liked it. Some dishes were better than others but overall enjoyable meal and we had great service too.

We just went last week for the character lunch and we enjoyed the food and atmosphere. It wasn't the best place we ate but it wasn't the worst. We would go back again.

While our little one enjoyed the characters immensely, we will not go to H&V again. The food was ok, but the customer service was absurd. The woman that seated us was very grouchy and we were seated in a tight corner with a high chair. The characters couldn't get to us, so I had to get our little girl out to go see the characters. Then the same grouchy woman rudely told us to take our while we were trying to get out of our corner to go up to the buffet. Horrible experience.

We ended up there twice last year, once for Character lunch and a second time for Fantasmic dinner package. We were very disappointed both times and won't return. The food was less than ok and our waits were too long.

We had lunch there with the Play N Dine characters. My daughter danced with them and had an awesome time. The food was pretty good, nothing special, but the atmosphere was worth it. It was my kids' birthday, and they did a great job with the cake, singing Happy Bday and gave them bday pins to wear all day.

I have also heard that breakfast is better than lunch.

We are going to try it again for our Thanksgiving dinner this year. It wasn't our first choice, but it was available and I took it.

Give it a try!

We ate there in January on the Fantasmic package. It was OK, not great (just like most buffets) One thing that really annoyed me was that the latest ressie we could get was 4:30, but then it took 45-60 minutes to actually be seated. I was concerned that we would be rushing dinner to get to Fantasmic.

We've eaten there twice (04 and 06) and liked it fine both times. It's not V&A's, but we knew that going in and liked it for what it was.

Thanks to all who replied. We have thought about eating @ H&V before, but backed out for the same reason. Well, actually once it was closed due to hurricanes. I think we'll just stick with it & see. You never know. I hear a lot of good things about sci-fi, but we didnt care for. DH actually get VERY ill after eating there.

I think we'll just go, & have a positive attitued when we get there, but then it's Disney, positive goes with the territory.

We ate at H&V in March 05 and it was ok, not good, but not bad.

We at in December 2006 and it was pretty bad.

Won't go back until we hear a lot of positive changes have been made.

Funny thing is you don't hear nearly as much negativity about the 50's Prime Time Cafe and they share a kitchen, so the food should be nearly identical in reviews, right?
