Which one would be better? We've already been to Prime Time & Sci Fi-Dine In. Thanks

You are comparing apples and oranges.

I would not recommend H&V to anyone. Our experiences have been less then pleasurable. I think that it may be the worst buffet on property.

HBD on the other hand is one our favorites. We've always had good service and great food.

Hollywood and Vine, while always a buffet, has gone through many different incarnations and differing hours of operation. I would go with the Brown Derby. Love the Cobb Salad

As Mitch said, you cannot compare these two restaurants - Brown Derby is full service, H&V a buffet.

But our experience at H&V was very different than's Mitch's. We DID like the buffet at there very much. The food was very fresh and very good. We are going to go back this August for the Fantasmic dinner package.

As stated in earliar posts these restaurants are very different. It really depends what you are looking for. H&V is a buffet and although I am not a great lover of buffets I found this restaurant to be very good. We probably will not eat in this restaurant again because we only went to it because of the characters.

Hollywood Brown Derby is another story. It is an elegant restaurant with outstanding food. Will be making 2 ps for our trip in October.

We love hollywood and Vine and yes, completely 2 different style places to eat. Mostly it depends on whos in your party. If it's just the 2 of us, we eat cetain places, but when the grandson is with us, its buffets and H&V is high on our list.

Hollywood & Vine was closed back in the winter. No plans as of yet what it will reopen as!

We ate at Hollywood and Vine 3 times in May (2003) during our last trip, so it is diffently open. I have 2 reservations to eat there on our next trip in 3 weeks.

We would NEVER recommend H&V to anyone. It is the only Disney restaurant that we will not ever try again. However, we really enjoyed Brown Derby. We had lunch in June and it was very good. We plan to include Brown Derby every trip now.

We've eaten at Hollywood & Vine for many years and have always found it to be good. We prefer a more casual restaurant after a hot day in the parks though, saving better restaurants for resorts and Epcot. H&V is currently only open for dinner and no longer serves breakfast or lunch.

By the way, I've been told that they have the same kitchen as the 50's Primetime Cafe. I don't know if it's true but they definitely share the same bathrooms!

My family ate at Hollywood & Vine last week w/the Fantasmic dinner package.

We all really enjoyed it! It was actually the best buffet I've ever been to. The prime rib was excellent! The selection was very good, everything was fresh and we all left very satisfied.

:D

we like both, but i think i would go with the bd if given the choice. :)

As has been said a couple of times, the two restaurants are very different, so it depends what you are looking for. We happen to like both very much (I am very surprised by the strongly negative reviews I have seen here). It is disappointing that the characters are no longer at H&V, because the set-up was a little different from the norm. Minnie did not travel round the tables, but stayed by the front so kids could visit with her whenever they wanted. They also put on a little dance show every 30 mins or so, which my kids loved. The food was always of good quality, and there were always some interesting dishes.

Of course, JMHO,
Mike

We have never been to H & V, but have been HBD many times. We LOVE the food here, esp. the cobb salad, but also enjoy the appetizers. The coconut shrimp are awesome.

Okay, this is making me a bit nervous as I have a PS Fantasmic package reserved for 9 people (lots of teens plus their adults). Can anyone reassure me?

DH and I walked through H & V once just because we like to preview buffets before we decide to eat there. Actually, we thought the food looked very good. We would have eaten there, but we weren't particularly hungry at the time.

I wouldn't be nervous at all. I'm sure you'll have a great time!
