I am considering H&V for January trip. What's the good and the bad? It definitely seems like it is not one of the favorites of the DIS members.

There is at least DISSER who will tell you they'll never go back there. I'm not that DISSER. We had the Fantasmic dinner pkg there last summer. Good fresh food, fantastic AC, wonderful service. I left full and we were able to relax during our meal so it worked for us. Its not outstanding cuisine, but its certainly better than Goldern Corral (which is fine).

I am one of two DISer's who will never go back there after two horrible experiences. Absolutely terrible service, luke warm food (when there was food to be selected over) and filthy tables, floors, etc. The only good thing about it was the dessert bar.

We've eaten there 3xs with the Fantasmic Dinner Package. The buffet has a good variety...having said that I wouldn't eat there for the food alone, only if I was getting the dinner package with preferred seating for Fantasmic! :thumbsup2

The food was delicious (rolls were hard though) but unfortunately my stomach didn't agree...we had the Fantasmic package and never made it to the show! :scared1:

We had a good meal there. Service was friendly and food was all fresh. The buffet was kept clean and well-stocked. My only complaint was the looonnggg wait to be seated (1 hr).

We have been twice and enjoyed it. The service wasn't fantastic the last time, but we are going again in December, so we haven't written it off.

we ate there late in the evening in 2006. We got to the podium w/o a reservation and were told they only take reservations, so we went and made one but all they had was a real late one. We went back and decided to wait outside a bit early, but were called right away. The place was completely empty, maybe 5 parties in the whole place, not kidding. I guess they were all at Fantasmic. There was no waiting in line for food! It looked bigger than it really was since they had the same food on each side. Nothing really appealed to us except the mac and cheese and the pot roast. The dessert bar was fun though, they had lots of little treats! I wouldnt go back there even though i thought it was ok, we LOVE sci-fi and 50's too much.

We often eat at H&V and I was disappointed to not get the Fantasmic Package there for January 1. However, we're eating there anyway. I especially like the mussels, (don't know of any other buffet that has these) and for desert, there's a berry cobbler that's wonderful!

We often eat at Cape May for dinner as well. I do prefer that buffet choices over H&V with the exception of the deserts. There is nothing to compare with the cobbler and we skip desserts at CM.

We ate there last January & everyone (including my picky mom) liked the food. However, I would do Sci-Fi Diner before spending money on another buffet in MGM/HS.

I eat there for the fantasmic pkg but really have enjoyed the food. December will be my 3rd time there. I would eat there without the package if we wanted to dine somewhere in MGM.

Worst meal we have ever had at WDW! Terrible food and terrible service. It is the one restaurant that we will NEVER return to!

Picky eater DD and I have eaten there several times and always enjoy it. Our service has always been excellent but there is always a wait- even with ADR's.

Doing that Fantasmic! Dinner Package this August, it sounds like delicious fun! :lmao:

We ate there last year for the Fantasmic package. We all thought the food was pretty good, the desserts were great! Service was so-so, but none of us walked out complaining and we were all full and satisfied. I would have no problem eating there again!
