Hollywood Studios for the under 3 set

I have a 3yr old DD and DS will be 16 mths when we go to Disney at the end of March. I'm wondering about how much fun they'll have at Hollywood Studios. I've done some research and it seems they'll only be able to do:

Honey I shrunk the kids movie set adventure (it says 4 & up....is this true?)
after that its just shows:
Playhouse disney
Voyage of Little Mermaid
Beauty & the Beast

I can't imagine doing more than one or 2 shows. DD might like them but DS can barely sit still for more than 5 mins.

Have you done Hollywood Studios with kids 3 & under? Is it worth going?

I took my girls to Disney when they were both 18mo and the Studios were one of our favorite places to go (besides MK). yes you have those places but there's more.

HISTK - has slides and bouncing and climbing and exploring and it's safe for the kids to run around.

Playhouse Disney is the best show for little ones. You sit on the floor and the shows are ones they watch on the Disney channel or ABC Sat AM.

Voyage - is a fun show because of the lazer show and the sprays of water you feel. Plus the scene where the animals play the music is really fun.

Beauty and the Beast is like a broadway show while you sit on bleachers. It's a good show, but your little one might get a little ansie.

Muppets 3D - this is a really fun show for little ones - plus you can get $5 tattoos outside by the Miss Piggy fountain.

Al's Toy Barn - be sure to see Buzz and Woody and get your pictures taken.

Mickey Avenue - has tons of friends to see. Little Einstiens!

The Backlot tour might be a little boring for the little one.

Get some ice cream at Gertie the big green dinosaur. The Motor Car parade. The movie inside the Chinese Theater. My DD loved seeing the old movies - Wizard of Oz scene.

Usually all of that takes us most of the day. It's all in how you show it to them. Plus the little things like the Snowman near the christmas shop, the Singing in the rain umbrella, the bike and sounds of the city around the building. Seeing all of the characters around the hat.

I don't think they enforce it, but the play surface is not as soft as you might think. Just FYI, my DD chipped her teeth when she was 9 and fell there.

I think that this is really a "half day"(or less!) park with toddlers. The Playhouse Disney show they will love- they don't have to sit still through it. They can move and dance and at the end bubbles fall from the ceiling.

Little Mermaid can be a little scary for some kids, as well as long.

Beauty and the Beast might be a stretch too.

How about characters? The little Einsteins are on Mickey Ave. Buzz and Woody are at Al's toy barn.

I'm not sure about the new parade yet, but my kids really liked the old one that was full of characters they recognized. Maybe the parade would be fun as well, if they can last until 3pm.

My kids were slightly older than yours are when we first went to the Studios (they were 4,4, almost 3). Here's what we did there that trip:

**Meet characters. If you have a Cars fan, he/she will be in luck: Mater and Lightening McQueen are both available to have your picture taken with them. My 2 year old son LOVED this. In addition to the "basic" characters (Mickey, etc) they also had some more rare characters in the afternoon: Mary Poppins with the Penguins; Snow White, a dwarf, and the Evil Queen, etc.

***Playhouse show. Really cute for kids. Note it's mostly puppets rather than full-size characters.

***Character meal at Play n Dine. Food's gross here, but the kids loved meeting the Little Einsteins and Jo Jo.

And....that was it for the Studios for us that trip. . I did take one of my four year olds to the Beauty and the Beast show--my other two were getting tired, and didn't want to go. It's a really neat show--my daughter loved it. It might be too much for your little one though; I think it's about 20-30 minutes long.

We tried the Muppets movie--it scared the heck out of my kids. . I'd recommend seeing how yours like Mickey's Philharmagic in MK first (my kids weren't crazy about that one either; too loud for them).

We also skipped the Ariel show that trip--my daughters were going through a phase where they were scared of Ursula. We did go see it a few months ago (when they were 5,5 almost 4), and then they liked it. Be fore-warned it does get dark and loud in a few scenes, and has a part with thunder.

All in all....we certainly could've skipped this park our first trip. The only thing that makes me glad we went was meeting the characters. Our second trip though--when the kids were a bit older--was worth it, and they got a lot more out of the park.

For us, Studios were a half-day must-do. Dd3.5 wanted to meet Little Einsteins (tho she was scared when she actually met them), and she enjoyed Little Mermaid and the playground a lot. But, the real must-do was for ds6, with Star Tours and the Jedi Training Academy. We also did Lights, Motor, Action (the stunt show) as a family, and while dd wouldn't have chosen it, she enjoyed it (more than ds enjoyed Little Mermaid, at least!).

You may find that fitting in 2-3 shows may be plenty, tbh, because of the scheduling.

(The Playhouse Disney show was closed when we were there.)

This park is always low on our priority list when we visit. We always do Little Mermaid and the Beauty and the Beast show (DD was chosen as the princess of the day last time). We do the Muppets, Star Tours, Great Movie Ride, and the Backlot Tour. Other than that, we meet the characters who we run into and then leave for the day. Just as a tip, Great Movie Ride can be scary for little ones if your child scares easily. We don't do the Playhouse Disney show because DD considers it babyish and really doesn't know those characters anymore. That may change this year since they are updating it. We'll see.

Our youngest son was a month shy of 2, our daughter almost 5, and they LOVED it! We spent 2 days there, and they didn't get bored.

The parade has lots of characters they recognized that we didn't see anywhere else, they loved The Great Movie Ride, Voyage of the Little Mermaid, Playhouse Disney and Beauty and the Beast. We watched Muppets 3D 4 times. And they loved the fountain outside the Muppet Theater. Our Toy Story addict got to meet Woody and that made his day.

I'll probably be there in March with my sis and our 2 kids, ages 3 and 4. We've been to WDW several times before, they've never been.

We're only going for 3 days, but DHS is on the list for 1 of the days, mostly for lunch at Playhouse Holl&Vine, Playhouse Disney show, Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Muppets, Honey I shrunk the Kids,
My son also likes Star Tours and the stunt show, but we'll see how it goes. I'm thinking if he has to sit through Beauty and the Beast with his cousin, maybe she can make it through Lights Motors Action. We'll see.

Just wanted to put in a warning about the Honey I Shrunk the Kids playground area. While there are plenty of things to play on, it is very easy to lose sight of your child here. I got separated from DD4 for a few minutes on our last trip. Scariest minutes of our lives I think. It was definitely designed with 4+ kids in mind although your littlest one might be amused with the small little kids area.
