Hollywood Studios dining

We are getting closer to being able to make our ADRs and the place I am stumped about is Hollywood Studios. There will be 8 of us, including a 2 and 4 year old. Where should we go? I have been looking at Hollywood & Vine but is it worth it? And is it better breakfast/lunch with Disney Jr or dinner with Minnie?

We did the H&V breakfast and it was worth it for us, but it's all subjective and depends on what your kids like and what meal you want to eat. HS has slim pickins' for TS and QS options, but we liked H&V enough to book it again for our next trip.

I will NEVER return to H & V. Rude waitress. Dirty, unbussed tables. Hot food not hot. Cold food not cold. Dirty buffet. Filthy Ladies Room. Never Again.
We enjoy 50's PTC. Sci Fi gets good reviews. I think Mama Melrose would be good too.
Good luck

H&V is at the very top of our NEVER AGAIN list. Similar experience as Hopefully. Having Minnie peel my grapes for me and feed me with a gold plated spoon while Goofy serenaded us with a violin still wouldn't make up for the really lousy food and other things that were mentioned. YMMV

We've really enjoyed our meals at 50s PTC and Mama Melrose. Sci Fi too. But with a group your size, if you want to be together you'd likely have to sit at the picnic tables instead of in the cars.

Chiming in on 50's Prime Time and Sci Fi Drive Inn again as well. Two of our favourite themed restaurants on property.

Also, we enjoy the food at the 50's Prime Time Cafe. The sample platter is always good and enough for my wife and I to share after a starter.

We have really enjoyed Hollywood Brown Derby. Last month, we ate at 50s Prime Time for the first time. I was pleasantly surprised. The food was very good and more gourmet/upscale than I thought it would be (not too much though). I had the sustainable fish of the day (salmon) with lemon, garlic butter, broccolini, and sweet potato hash. It was all excellent, but the sweet potato hash was fabulous. DH really enjoyed the stuffed pork chop. DS had the chicken nuggets. I regret that we didn't get a shake or have time for dessert. The service was friendly and incredibly efficient.

My favorite at HS is Brown Derby, and we also really enjoyed 50's. With two preschoolers, though, I would definitely consider H&V. We did an 8am breakfast when our younger ones were 2 and 5 and it was a lot of fun. My 2-year-old joined right in with the little dance party they do--very cute. We thought the breakfast food was fine. Same as the other breakfast buffets.

Another vote for 50s Prime Time. Not only is it is one of my favorite restaurants in WDW, but we went there with a big group of extended family a couple of year ago and the interaction was great - so much fun.

I always have the hardest time choosing between Sci Fi and 50's PT. I love the themed restaurants and it's a nice break from the character meals without giving up any Disney Magic.

I am obviously no expert, having only been to WDW once, back in 2011. However, we really enjoyed our Fantasmic Dinner package at H&V back then! We thought the food was great, although the service was just OK. There was no Minnie Dine at that time. For our upcoming trip, I made an ADR for the Fantasmic Minnie Dine H&V package for June. This time around, we are traveling with my sister and her family (total of 8 in our party). It will be their first trip, so now I'm getting a little nervous about H&V, since so many have expressed their dissatisfaction. :worried:

Our other ADR is for 50's Prime Time Cafe. We have never been there, but it sounds like it will be a lot of fun!

Just ate lunch at 50's prime time cafe (4/19)
Another great meal. We come here everytime we go to Disney.

Had chicken noodle soup, pork chop (first time and it was tasty) and PB&J shake.
Wife had a salad and pot roast.
Nephew had onion rings (I love those) and fried chicken.
Son had nuggets.

We were all satisfied. Make this a choice at Hollywood Studios.

If your kids are fans of the Disney Jr characters, do H&V. It is fun for the kids (they get them up dancing regularly), and we enjoyed the food. I had a lot of misgivings about going due to poor reviews, so I was pleasantly surprised.

If they don't watch those shows, then i would do Sci-Fi. We took our son to 50's when he was nearly 3, but the staff couldn't really do their schtick with us. He wouldn't have understood what was going on. He loved Sci-Fi last year (nearly 4), and I think he would have enjoyed it at a younger age too. Sitting in the cars and watching the movies was fun for him. The food is excellent at both of those restaurants too.

We very much enjoyed Mama Melrose!! Our DS5 like the pizza, DH enjoyed his chicken parm and my steak was amazing.

Another option is to take the boat over to the Boardwalk and try one of those restaurants or the Beach or Yacht Club resorts

They do like Disney Jr, but is the character interaction any better than if we would just do the character meet?
