Taking DH on a very quick adults only trip as a surpise and was thinking of doing a late lunch at HBD before heading back to CSR for a swim and nap prior to HHN.
We passed by the BD for years and finally tried it last December on a whim. We loved it and have been each trip since! The Cobb is just my absolute favorite and so is the grapefruit cake with coffee.
I never miss going to Hollywood Brown Derby. Love the cobb salad. It is listed as an entree, but we order it split it 4 ways and still get an entree. We have had our looks, to me it is my dinner salad and since we are sharing it is not a whole meal,
We've only been once and didn't like it at all...but my DH and I talked it over and think a major part of it was the server we had who kind of put a damper on the whole evening. We are going to try it again next year.
We had the Fantasmic Dinner package there last month. The food was really good and our server was knowledgeable and pleasant. We were lucky enough to sit in a booth, which I think made the experience even better. I love the atmosphere there. It was a nice evening and was even romantic.
Ahhh... Here's the thread with the pictures of the Cobb Salad and the grapefruit cake on it. The salad looks kind of weird all chopped up like that, doesn't it? But I just know it's delicious.
If I split the salad with someone else, I wonder if I'll still have room for an entree' and the cake. Hmmm... I might end up like that guy on Monty Python's "Meaning of Life": "Bring me a bucket."
I just went earlier this month and it was definitely one of the highlights of our trip. I had the Crabcake appetitizer, the Filet and the banana desert. It was all melt in your mouth delicious. Our server, Nick, was fantastic - attentive without being over bearing. One of us had a problem with their entree and he replaced it immediately.
We went for dinner, and the environment of the restaurant made you feel as if you were miles away from an amusement park. It may have been the only place we were at all week that didn't feature screaming children. There were families with kids there, but all were well behaved.
We were on the ddp, but were so happy with our service that we gave our waiter a sizable tip in addition to what is included with the ddp. It is definitely a must do for our next trip.
Had a great meal there over 10 years ago, but the last couple of times the food was so-so. It's been awhile since we've been there, so hopefully, things have gotten better. My husband and I shared the Earfel Tower Sundae; I wonder if they still offer that?!
i looooove cobb salads, and because of this thread, and the pics of the salad and grapefruit cake, i have made a ressie there for my trip in feb! looks great!
