Hollywood Brown Derby or Mama Melrose?

So after re-thinking our itinerary, I have decided it's best not leave DHS the only day we are visiting. It is on our arrival day and Fantasmic! night at DHS, which is the reason we're going. Originally we planned to walk to Kouzzina for dinner, but decided it's not worth walking over there when we could be doing rides or seeing a show. So basically, should we just do Mama Melrose or would it be worth two TS credits for The Brown Derby? If we do Brown Derby we will have to pay OP for somewhere else. Our Mama Melrose ADR would be around 1:35 while the ADR at Brown Derby is at 3:10.

I'd rather do the 3'ish early dinner. Then, you'll just need a snack later.

It doesn't hurt that I LOVE the Brown Derby. I love their Cobb Salad and Filet. Yumm. I booked ressies there for our upcoming trip and we went during last years trip.

do you know if you can get the 8 oz filet with the dining plan or only the 6 oz?

We went to Brown Derby seven years ago and have not gone back. We had terrible service (it was around 1:30 in the afternoon and only five tables occupied in the entire restaurant and it still took over two hours). The server was rude, the food was medicore at best and the Grapefruit cake was gross (but that's just a personal taste). Definitely not worth two credits and why we've not gone back. Mama Melrose, on the other hand, we've had good food and good service all four visits.

We were also on the DxDP when we last visited. I don't recall how large the steak was, wish I could remember. I do know we got the huge Cobb Salad and were pretty much full after that, then went on to finish our filet.

The seats were wonderful, large curved booths and our server was awesome. However, I don't think it's a big kids' place. There were a lot of kids, but the theme is more adult oriented. I have not tried Mama Melrose, in all fairness.

I would prefer the later time.......but Italian always trumps most everything else. So it would be Mama Melrose for sure.
I would just switch and have my heavier meal midday and then a light meal later in the evening.

Mmmm....spaghetti.

DH and I love love love mama melrose's. I was finally able to get a ressie for our upcoming trip and DH was so excited. He usually doesn't get excited about stuff like that. Mama's has the best sangria and we love their food and so do my kids. We have been very lucky and always had great wait staff. It is a MUST do for us every visit. I've never been to brown derby so I leave it up to others to post their experiences.

We have done both. We enjoyed both...but honestly we don't like to part with 2 TS credits for The Brown Derby. I would definately choose Mama Melrose.
