We are true Disney foodies, so we were excited to try the new Brown Derby Lounge.
As you may know, the lounge just opened and does not take reservations. We arrived at the lounge at 3 p.m. on a Sunday. The lounge was completely full with patrons and they were not allowing indoor seating in the lounge's indoor seating area because the Brown Derby had begun serving dinner and apparently the lounge seating morphs back into BD seating at that point.
We watched and waited for a table to become free. Families were pouncing on eachother to get tables and we asked several times if there was any way to put our name in "line" for the next table to avoid this nastiness. This was definitely a Disney first for us-- it kind of reminded me of the old Boulangerie seating in Epcot and how you'd have to hope and pray someone got up so you could sit down!
For a nicer table-service area, I felt like it was inappropriate to stalk people while they ate!
Anyway, we managed to grab a table after 45 minutes.
From here on out, everything was amazing. Our server was fantastic and took excellent care of us.
We enjoyed the margarita flight and the martini flight. We LOVED the margarita flight and would not get the martini flight again (nothing personal, just not our thing!)
For our family of 4 (9yo dd, 10yo dd, mom, dad) we had 2 orders of the duck confit tacos and 2 orders of the sliders (a Wagyu beef slider with cognac mustard aïoli, smoked gouda cheese, bacon and avocado; and a house-made chorizo slider with chipotle mayo, manchego cheese, pickles and crispy onions.)
The sliders were a family favorite and we can't wait to get them again!
The duck confit tacos were on the smaller side (you get 3) and had a sweet, tart fruity bite to them. We loved them.
We also had the cheese plate and would probably skip that next time as it was fine but nothing outstanding.
For dessert, we ordered the creme brulee (this is the same as in the actual BD) and the banana white chocolate toffee tower. Both were excellent.
It is a great place, but the outdoor seating would be really really hot in the summer. They have umbrellas, but Lord knows the umbrellas aren't going to protect you from the FL heat!
If you are around HS in the evening with time to kill and the wait times aren't terrible, it is a good place to people watch and sip a margarita (seriously, I need that margarita again!)
