HollyWood and Vine Character Breakfast Cancelled!!!

Bumming... Just got a call from WDW Dining. They are discontinuing the character breakfast at HollyWood and Vine and the Studios. We had ressies for 5/24 at 8:20.

The CM who called told me that she didnt know when the breakfast would actually end, but it would not be available in May. She also said that they are adjusting the hours at the Studios. Not sure what that meant, she didn't know the hours for May yet.

One other thing she mentioned was that they would no longer take ressies for the Fantasmic Dinner Package after March 31st. She told me I would ahve to call back at the end of March to see if they were still going to have the package available. This doesn't bode well...

They rebooked us into a character breakfast at Ohana's. How is that one?

If you are as disappointed as we are, let them know. Maybe, we can convince them to bring it back...

March 23rd is the last day.

We had a PS for 4-16. I have voiced my displeasure with countless CM's and supervisors in the past few days. It hasn't helped a bit. I am going to write a letter to the higher ups. The thing that has bothered me the most is that we are going the week before Easter. When I made my PS' we had our choice of places, dates and times. HA that's not the case now.

This saddens me. This was one of the breakfasts that my family really enjoyed. On our last trip to WDW in December, we actually went with a group of 18 to H & V for lunch. We had a ball.

While I understand that everyone is upset at the sudden end of this breakfast and lunch, the people that answer the phones at WDW DINE have nothing to do with it. Yes, they can log your complaint but thats about it. After about 100 calls a day about the same problems, what do you want them to say? Don't shoot the messanger. Please write a letter to the higher ups who do have a say in the matter.

I just wanted to say that I agree completely with suzannews. I didn't mean to say we should complain to the WDW Dining CM's. I sent an e-mail to WDW Guest Services.

H&V was our son's favorite Character meal. Ours too.

I will not eat there with out the characters for him. Just another WDW cutback. I guess with the large amount of characters they have out inthe parks, they decided to cut back the character meals.

My question is now are they going to cutback the cost as well, since there is NO entertainment.

I got my call today. We had an 8:30 PS for 5/18. They told me they were no longer having breakfast and lunch and said they took the liberty of rescheduling me at Cape May Cafe. I already had a ressie at Cape May 3 days later. I did let them know I was disappointed and that it was one of our favorites, she told me that it was strange that everyone today told her it was a favorite, but they were closing it because it was not busy. I did not see any reason to get mad at her, it was not her decision to cancel my breakfast.

all of this leads me to think of something....everyone has been inquiring about a certain breakfast with characters....and this is the park where these characters can be found....

Could it be a Toy Story character breakfast coming soon????

Bigdaddy, I doubt it. Why close it if there are just going to change out the characters. 1900 Park Fare changes themes quite often and never has to close in between. If they were making wholesale changes to the interior of H&V to accomodate the Toy Story theme, they'd likely have cancelled the non-character dinner as well. But they haven't. Chalk this one up to cost reduction.

Hmmm...I wonder. If one of the CMs mentioned a change in MGM-Studio's hours, I wonder if that could mean they may be opening the park later, around 11 or 12. The Studios are tied into a late night with Fantasmic showings and the dinner package is probably a boon to the restaurants there, so they can't shorten the hours from that end. Only on the opening one.

This is just my own conjecture! I, too, would love a Toy Story character meal for DS and DD. But with the pattern at the other parks....

I didn't get the impression they were thinking of shifting the park hours to later. The CM told me they were not going to be taking Fantasmic dinner pkg ressies after March 31. My gut feel is that they are just going to go to a reduced set of operating hours similar to AK. Hope not, thnough...

Do I understand correctly that this is for lunch, too? We've eaten at the character lunch several times, recently in January. I must admit that we were one of 3 tables in the restaurant.

Too bad, we enjoyed their character meals!

I am so glad I was able to secure PS for the 22 which is the real last day. I ran into the same problem with LTT, but they rescheduled me to an earlier time on the same day. I am impressed that they considered me!

?????? Just curious what you meant by that? Have they also cancelled your LTT PS??

We had PS for H&V on April 25th for lunch....they called and left a message yesterday that they cancelled that one and booked us at Garden Grill!
Sorry, but my first reaction was "If I wanted Garden Grill, I would have made a PS for Garden Grill."
We will be at MGM on the 25th and really have no intention of making that long hike over to Epcot for lunch and then back.
So it looks like they just lost out on getting our $$ for a character meal. Now with no character meal options at MGM, we will just do counter service.
But looking on the bright side.....it saves us a few $$$.

I think we are both talking about the same thing, a reduced set of hours. I'm just wondering if they'll cut back on hours by opening the park later and preserving Fantasmic, which needs to be done when it's dark, versus closing the park earlier, but opening the same time . For example, having a 12-9 operating schedule vs. 9-6.

I am wondering too about your LTT ressies. Did they cancel your character dinner ressies? We were going to make one there to replace the H&V one we lost. Can you let us know?

I also got my call, but mine said the charactwer lunch was canceled, but the buffet was still being served. When I called to check I was told the entire lucnh was canceled. The they couldn't find us an alternative for our party of 8! They suggested we go to another theme park for lunch! (and kill a few hours geting there and back! - Do these people even actually GO to Disney??) And I understand it's not the phone reps fault, but as someone whose area of responsibility includes a call center, it's their job to make the customer happy - they represent Disney. They simply had no viable alternatives for us!

What amazes me is that this is being changed at what is supposed to be the busiest time of the year for Disney! It doesn't bode well for the remainder of the year. Of for what else we'll find is closed when we get there!
