Hi,

I was wondering if anyone has been on the holland america alaskan cruises on points. I was looking at the charts for 2003 and it was 211 per person for an outside stateroom. Has anyone done this? What are the additional fees on top of this? I imagine I would have to pay the 75 dollar reservation fee, anything else?

Thanks very much!

We are doing the Holland America Alaskan Cruise next summer (2003). At the current point prices, it made more sense for us to rent our points and use the money towards the cruise.

This way we can actually afford a room with a balcony. :)

Maybe we'll see you in Alaska!

We did the Holland America cruise to Alaska last August (this time last year, we were just getting home!!) We used our points and spent a total of 21 days in Alaska! We did the northbound route because you see more of Alaska this way (we were on the Rynndam) and it was truly a trip of a lifetime! I would highly recommend it. We did the northbound because we wanted to spend time in Anchorage and Fairbanks and the train to Denali. I don't think you would regret spending time in this great state. We used our points because we were spending alot of money on the train trip, meals, airfare from Fairbanks to home, etc. and I had lots of points and decided to use them. Some feel that this is not the most economical way to use points but I am not sorry that I made use of them! The northbound route goes from Vancouver, BC to Seward, Alaska so you would be responsible to buy your airfare from Anchorage or Fairbanks or wherever back home. Please feel free to e-mail me if you have any specific questions. We were a family of 3--myself, dh and dd (age 12)--just sailing through the glaciers is enough to move anyone!!
