Holiday Tour & Rain?

They are forecasting rain for our holiday tour day on Wednesday. I don't really care much if it rains; in fact, I'd prefer it if it means less crowds. But I'm just wondering if they ever cancel the holiday tour because of rain. I haven't told my daughters about it yet, and I'll hold off if it means that it may be cancelled. I don't want to get them all pumped up about the tour if there's a chance it might not happen.

Anyone know how they handle rain and the holiday tour?

We went last year in the pouring rain. The tour went on as scheduled except that HMH was acting up when we went to get on so we skipped it and the parade wasn't able to go on so we stood and watched the brief character calvacade instead. They gave our family of four 8 fastpasses to be used on any ride. The FPs were good through the end of the following day. We used them for Finding Nemo and Peter Pan. Since we'd already been on HMH with fastpasses a couLe of times that visit, we thought this was a great perk.

I was bummed we didn't get our special seats for the parade. When we checked in at the guided tour kiosk earlier in the day, they did offer to let us change to another time slot if one was available. We were leaving at noonish the following day (which was sunny, of course!), but we seriously considered changing to he earlier time slot on our day. We took the chance that the weather report would be accurate and the rain would continue and then slow to a small drizzle by evening. Instead, it cleared up for the afternoon saving every drop for a two hour downpour later in the evening.

I'll never forget that tour! Despite the cold and the wet, we all had a good time. Good enough that my now eight year old DD asked if we could do it again on our daytrip on Tuesday! The rest of our extended family going with us were pretty "meh" on the idea, so we aren't doing it this time. Just as well since once in the rain was memorable, but twice in the rain might be just a bit too much to ask of even the most dedicated Disney lovers.

We are booked for the 3pm tour tomorrow (Monday). I will be beyond bummed if the parade is cancelled! :sad2:

We are taking a quick hotel break. We had the 3pm tour yesterday. We were offered a refund or change of date because of the rain. We did the tour anyway. It was a light rain for most but got heavier at the end. The parade was cancelled (both parades fri-sun cancelled so far). We did get two "readmission passes" good for 6 people on any ride except toy story but it had to be used that day only. Fantastic, snow and fireworks were also cancelled on Friday and Saturday

Thanks for the info. I am glad you got the passes, but sorry about the cancellations. Hope you enjoy the rest of your stay!

Thank you for your replies. We are supposed to be on tomorrow's 3 pm tour, so it is not looking good. What are "re-admission" passes?

This is beyond rain now ... I mean what comes after pouring down buckets ... :headache: Sooooo many puddles every where you walk. :headache:

If if was a lighter rain and not this intense business I would bet that the Tour would go on. I stood for WOC in October and it was raining that night enough for us to buy those Disney slickers. The show went on. But man o man, SoCal has been truly hit with severe weather right now.

It appears that by Thursday it will END!!!!! :woohoo:

Looks like you got your answer but I wanted to chime in anyway :goodvibes

We took the tour on Saturday and it was raining a lot. They offered to reschedule but we knew it was supposed to rain even more on Sunday.

Another difference was that it wasn't an audio tour. Our tourguide had to pretty much shout to be heard. Her name was Roseanne and she was very spunky and happy about the whole thing.

We loved the 2 ride passes. We grabbed 4 extra people in the Indy and Peter Pan line and took them with us! It was just their lucky day.

No parade was a bummer. I kind of laughed at the "cavalcade" replacement. It was basically a cavalcade of 3 vehicles. One with Mickey & Minnie, one with Mr. & Mrs. Claus and then a double decker bus with all the other characters crammed inside. Plus---they go really fast down the route. Just zipping by. Made me giggle. As if they couldn't spread the characters out a bit and take it a little slower. Sheesh!

I heard it was raining even harder and blowing something fierce today, with even more expected. Yikes. What a crazy week there.
