I have read that some of the TS places have holiday surcharges... where can I find the exact dates that these are in effect? TIA!!!

Ok I found this info from Allearsnet.com. This is from last year but it should give you some reference.

Holiday Surcharges are in effect from now through November 15th - 24th at all buffet dining experiences.

Holiday Dining Surcharges that were in effect for the Thanksgiving Holiday season will also be in effect from December 16 - January 5, 2008. Prices will be higher at the following restaurants: Boma Breakfast and Dinner, Cape May Breakfast and Dinner Buffet, Chef Mickey's Breakfast and Dinner, Trails End Buffet, 1900 Park Fare Breakfast and Dinner, 'Ohana Breakfast and Dinner, Yacht Club Galley Breakfast Buffet, Tusker House, Garden Grill, Princess Storybook Dining, Crystal Palace, Liberty Tree Tavern Character Dinner, Cinderella's Royal Table, and Play 'n' Dine at Hollywood and Vine.

Also all of the month of June is considered a "holiday" as well.

I was worried because of Independence Day, and it is summer season.

Here's what I found:
Reminder that special "holiday" pricing will be in effect at the buffets from May 25 - July 5, 2008!

We are planning on July 20-26, so I guess we will be able to avoid the surcharges!!! Super!

Cool!!:thumbsup2 Glad I could help!!

The only confirmed 2008 dates are May 25-July 5...Thanksgiving has not been announced yet.The dates on allears were last years.

You can also avoid the surcharges by being on the Dining Plan. There is no price hike for the DP fees during these times.

I believe the surcharges begin 12/14/08 for the peak Christmas crowds. Which is a total money grabbing crock! If it's peak season, why are the resorts Value Season priced still?

When I was making ADR's today I was told the holiday pricing would be starting on Dec. 16th again.

So what exactly are these 'surcharges' going to look like? We arrive on
July 3rd and are already prepared to not be able use our DDE card on the
4th. Do they add an additional % to the whole bill? How absurd!

ETA: Answering my own question ;) I just called Disney Dining and apparently the locations that tend to have the "seasonal rates" are places that have set prices such as CM's, Crystal Palace, etc.

Disney adds a flat fee surcharge to buffet restaurants during the holiday surcharge period. The holiday surcharge period does not neccessarily have to include a "holiday".It is a time period which disney feels is a peak dining period and they charge a surcharge. As I said in an original post many threads back, this is not an unusual thing. Many resturants do this.Usually finer dining estab. in NYC,Chicago, The difference is those places do not tell you about them and unless you were a frequent diner you would never even realize that you were charged a surcharge. It really does not seem fair but Disney does not really care what is fair...they are a buisness.Quite honestly,be prepared for them to completely jack up food cost..Gas prices are thru the roof and now major crops will fail in the midwest. So it is going to trickle down eventually.

Just an FYI, last year my gf and I went to the Biergarten for dinner two days before Thanksgiving and we paid $30.99! Normal price is only $23.99!!

So does anyone know what the "holiday pricing" is at the buffets right now? We're taking family next week, and have three - count 'em - three buffets planned for a group of seven!! :faint:

:rotfl2:

Oh well, what can you do? :confused3

I have seen anywhere from $3-7.00 extra pp.Look at www.allears.net under restaurant news for more info and exact restaurants.

$4 per adult and $2 per child

You still have time to book the Dining Plan if you're eligible. There are no surcharges added to the Dining Plan. You need to confirm the plan w/in 72 of your visit.

I think we will be staying offsite, so no dining plan for us. I really don't think we would do the DDP even if we were onsite. It is too hot for all those heavy meals at that time of year, IMO! I understand the surcharges, I just wanted to be prepared for the extra expense if need be. Thanks!
