Less than 5 weeks to go and yesterday we also upgraded to PE on the outward leg of the trip as Virgin are offering some excellent rates. Now it is time to think about the soundtrack to our holiday. Does anybody else do this or is it just me? We do a fair amount of driving during the holiday and having something familiar to sing-along to keeps all of us in a happy mood (especially important to maintain relations between our DD1 (17) and DS (10). I know there are plenty of radio stations but I can't stand all of the adverts and we end up constantly flicking. Last year it was a mix of current top 40 hits, a few old holiday chestnuts and a smattering of Disney songs for the youngest crew member DD3 (4). All this DD and DS business confuses me but the wife says you will all understand and it will save on the typing like predictive text which I still can't get my head around.

Anyway, after watching top of the pops last night I think I need a new approach (it must be my age) as I didn't like any of it. I thought it would be fun to find out if a) there are other people as sad as me and b) what your favourite holiday songs are. TIA.

Hi, to be honest, it has never occurred to me to do a cd to take to Florida with us, thanks for the idea. :)

I think I would just ask each member of the group for their favourite 5 songs and provided you already have them, use this as your collection.

I've never done it but what a great idea!

Walt Disney World Official Album - to get you all in the mood for the parks!! It has music from the lands and rides and is fine to listen to occassionally but can get slightly annoying after a while - ours goes 'mysteriously' missing every now and again to give us a break!

I picked this up in Mousegear in Epcot but didn't buy it, never saw it anywhere else and had to buy from amazon back home for a bit more money.

Never thought of doing that myself but i would take the ultimate disney cd. :teeth:

I've never made a disc - as I always take my can't live without cds from home - just a couple - and then buy loads of new cds when we're out there! I'm a big country fan and you just can't buy that stuff here!!

I have to admit that despite the ads I love the radio... although it always takes a couple of days to find the good ones and I always forget to write them down for the next trip!

I usually make a CD for the car!! Its normally a compliation of my favourite tunes at the time!! Play them when you get home and it will remind you of your holiday!! :teeth:

:goodvibes :goodvibes :teeth: Glad to hear from you you are not the only ones who listen to Disney music. Last year we went to Disney for Valentines week and got re-hitched at The Garden Grill had a wonderful time and took lots of photos and a bit of video footage . When we returned home DH put all the photos (digital) on a disc and we selected a few of our faves to play with the photos and made a slide show and we watch it now and again to remind us of good times!

We usually take a couple of cds , one of which is a Ultimate Disney the others are usually country music.

We also take cd's for any driving on holiday.
DD's and DS try to guess which disney film from the opening bars :)

i made up a tape for travelling around in the car last time i went, and it works well for families with young children as my sister and myself were then. However, I've now got an mp3 player and downloading onto that, as i can listen to my music while my mum, dad & sister (18) can listen to there, therefore you don't have to listen to tunes you don't like. their also small so you can carry them around wdw and listen to it while in those long queues without annoying anyone else. This seems to work well as my sister and myself hate each others music.

:earsgirl: :cheer2: :earsgirl:

DH and I haven't done this since the kids arrived - used to do it when it was just the two of us and music went onto tape.

Anyway - now plan to make a couple of CDs for our holiday next month. Will deffo do the Disney songs and unfortunately Tony Christie will have to be on it - both kids adore that song tho its driving us mad! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

We're off to California in August and this gave endless possibilities for a great CD. Anything I could think of relating to California, San Francisco or LA has gone on.

We even put on 'Is this the way to Amarillo' as Tam thought that Amarillo was in California. I had to gently point out that she was thinking of Camarillo! :)

I think you ought to have 'its a small world' on constant loop
