Holiday Songs You Dislike

I have no strong feelings about any song good or bad.

My wife and daughter will turn the radio off it "Baby It’s Cold Outside" comes on. They agree with some domestic violence groups that it portrays rape. And I know some here disagree, but it isn't an uncommon opinion.

No where in the song does it mention sex.

I had to look up “Christmas Shoes” on YouTube. Ug, never again, ignorance is bliss.

Barbara Streisand’s version of “Jingle Bells” will have you emptying Taco Bell sauce packets into your eyes.
Not that it's a Christmas song but never look up Artificial Flowers by Bobby Darin then. Kind of creepy and depressing with a weird arrangement IMO.

Wonderful Christmastime by Paul McCartney is probably the worst.

Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer
All I Want For Christmas Is My Two Front Teeth
Yes, these would be on my top disliked list.

I also dislike “ we wish you a Merry Christmas “ . I don’t like songs that repeat the same line over and over.

Sexual assault.
I get the argument. The song may allude to the fact that he spiked her drink, that he wants to kiss her, wants her to stay the night.

Curious if anyone has actually watched the movie that this song came from? Does a sexual assault happen?

That is the issue folks have with the song. Not my issue, just pointing it out. Some radio stations no longer play it because of this concern.

Baby, It's Cold Outside and Santa Baby are both instant channel change. I can listen to Christmas Shoes once a year, after that the channel has to be changed.

"Do They Know It's Christmas" is stupid - half of the African continent practices Islam, I thought?

"Baby It's Cold Outside" has a woman trying to leave, and a man trying to convince her to stay. If you look at the lyrics, it's pretty bad. "The answer is no" and he doesn't stop - lots of innuendo about making her an extra strong drink, or spiking it with something. And it goes on and on like that. Not a nice song at all, IMO. Wear the woman down until she agrees to stay the night.

the Beatles Christmas songs, any of them. I worked retail through high school and my manager played the Beatles Christmas albums on repeat over the loudspeaker, starting the day after Thanksgiving through New Years Eve, and ever since then when they come on the radio they just make me really angry. I think it was only the last couple years that I didn't immediately have to shut the radio off when one of those songs comes on, and I'm in my 40s!

I've been back from WDW for a little over a week and my feeling about Christmas songs is that I never want to hear any of them ever again. I especially never want to hear "Have a Holly, Jolly Christmas" again. Ever.

I don’t like the Shoes song. At all. I also dislike the dogs barking Jingle Bells, the hippopotamus one, Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer (although I loved it as a kid) and the one that mentions Hawaii that I can’t spell and am too lazy to look up. Santa Baby is not a favorite either. And I get super tired of hearing Mariah Carey at Christmastime. And I can listen to I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus once or twice a season and then I’m done with that one too.

I listen to ‘oldies’ Christmas music on XM radio - I can’t stand to hear anything sung by Frank Sinatra - or any of the current singers who either try to jazz up or make traditional songs too ‘soulful’ by just singing them slowly…
