Hi Everyone

On ITV 2+1 at 18.35 they are repeating the Holiday Showdown where two families try and enjoy each others holidays.

This episode one families ideal holiday is Disneyland Paris and the other family enjoy the museums in Paris.I have seen it before but Me and the boys will be watching again to bring back the memories

thankyou sooo much for this!!!!! been hoping to catch up with this for ages as never seen it.

Just had a quick argument with hubby that there IS such a thing as ITV2+1 and we are about to watch it!

cheers!!!!

Found this just in time - thanks for bringing it to our attention, looking forward to seeing it

It's still on :)

This is a repeat of the show shown in prior years. The Disney family would definitely fall foul of our DLP posting rules ;) ... surprised they ever made it out of their own country :rolleyes1

"....as the sun sets over TINKER BELLS CASTLE....."

LOL

it's still on at the mo,

each to their own i guess, :happytv:

The dad changed his mind about that and apologised to the French. :)

Really enjoyed that, can't wait til 25th March for some of that treacle!!

Very diplomatic Cyrano - my thoughts (but not exactly:ssst: ). They did redeem themselves a bit, later in the show.

Overall, the two boys showed more open mindedness than either set of parents, and were a credit to them.

I don't think the show would entice people to come to DLP if they weren't already keen on the idea - which is a real pity.

I missed it :sad2: I can remember seeing it before but wouldn't have minded seeing it again.

If people let me know their addresses i recorded it!

i think the real shame about that program is that they've almost tried to epitomise disney go-ers in that family....and like cyrano said, its not really true is it! which is frustrating. plus it makes disneyland look like some awful, twisted and sinister place where everyone is brainwashed. why turn something so positive and fun into a negative. its very sad when ppl can find something menacing behind anything

But to be fair - there are family of members of this board who find the likes of IASW menacing :lmao: !

I only saw the sum-up bit at the end of this show, and didn't think it was extreme at all. The non-Disney family weren't impressed, but their little lad was. And the Disney family were converted to realising theres more to Paris than Disney. I was nodding my head when Disney Dad said "when you've been 18 times you get it - you see something new every time"

Lets face it, Disney parks aren't real life, they are someone's interpretation of an idea, catered to for the masses. Now me, I love Disney, and the whole park experience, but I can see how others would not be that impressed with 5-foot tall mice and ducks etc cavorting all over the place.

oh i definitely see what you mean, and for me i of course know its not reality. however, earlier in the program the non-disney family seemed to be stuck on the idea of brainwashing. which was just very irritating! and yes, IASW can seem a little sinister to some ppl, but lets me honest - disney is simply a bit of fun
i'm not having a go at all, i just getting a bit frustrated at the way they portraying that sort of holiday and the type of ppl who go on it

I thought the Disney family were made to seem a little bit "full on" myself, If I had gone there with them and that is how they are, I think that they would have put me off the place and I LOVE it there!!

It's the fact they were so desperate to get them on rides and legged it straight to space mountain! Maybe the other family would have liked to have actually seen the place soaked up the atmosphere somewhat.

Mind you saying that, my brother who HATED Disneyland came with us last trip, luckily on day 2 he buggered off to spend a day in PAris which the rest of us disney fans were really glad for because he killed our first day there, he really dampened the spirit to be honest we never really talk about day 1 of the holiday because he was just totally ruining it for us.

I think brainwashing is how he referred to it too. I suppose the whole place is very in your face but thats the beauty of it, you go there to forget everything!

We were one of the familys featured on this programme and to put it in context we had originally applied to go to disneyworld as the range of activities is so much greater however the team were insistent upon us matching with a francophile family who hated disney and what it stands for ? The filming was done approx 10 hours a day over 10 days and then condensed into one hour to make it a show, what you see is what the programme makers want you to see, any tension is as a result of the programme makers behaviour, encouragement and actions who actually requested several times that we had make believe arguements to improve the programme, the other family were a delight to get on with and we have stayed in touch via e mail and christmas cards, our sons became fast friends and off camera we had a fantastic time at both locations, we have been back to paris several times since the show and found many parts of it that we love along with many people in france that are helpful friendly and warm, as with all countries there are also people who aren't any of those things, we had said all along that we didn't care if the other family would ever go again as long as they had a good time when they were away as we would have hated for them to have a bad time, at no time did we push them into doing anything they didn't want to do and in fact we avoided several rides that would have made them uncomfortable, of course you don't see that. i hope that you all enjoyed the show and are able to take it in the context it was meant which was for both families to experience a holiday that they normally wouldn't and have a good time while they were there.
