Can someone direct me to information about the increase holiday dining prices. After hearing about this last year, I swore I would not pay extra just because it is a holiday. It is rare that DH and I visit WDW in December, but it just so happens we will be in 2008.

What dates does the Christmas holiday pricing begin? Our dates are 12-11-08through 12-15-08. Maybe we will be lucky and miss it.

So far our ADR's are at Kona, Biergarten, HDDR, 50's PT, Bomas, & Fultons. Are any of these places included, or is it mostly character meals that are affected?

Thanks for your help on this.

1) This year, Holiday pricing is not
. . . Feb-29th
. . . Aug-32nd
. . . Nov-31st
2) Other dates are holiday pricing.

What's the rationale behind raising the prices in the restaurants in peak season?

I could speculate.

I do get what you are saying here :rotfl2: Prices are high all of the time at WDW. ITA, but I still go anyway. (but I will try my best not to pay even more, if I can help it)

The holiday pricing is only for buffets, character or not. So for the OP, that would be Biergarten and Boma on your list.

Disney World is actually behind major markets for charging extra during holiday periods.

If you look at the holiday schedule -

May 25 - July 5 is summer season
November 22 - 29 is Thanksgiving
December 16 - January 3 is Christmas/New Year's
April 5 - 18 was Spring Break/Easter

So those time periods are not regular or value times for Disney World. It happens all the time for things like the city that has the Super Bowl or the places around Daytona for the 500. Disney just has lots of times during the year that are different.

Fulton's Crab house no longer accepts the Disney Dining Plan, at least according to the CM I spoke to on the Dining line on Saturday.

The idea of a holiday surcharge is not a new one. Many restaurants in many US cities (NYC,CHI,LA)do this. The difference being, they figure the surcharge into the menu items and raise those costs instead of slapping the surcharge onto the bill(like Disney).Unless you were a frequent diner at some of those resturants, you probably wouldn't even realize you are paying a surcharge. In any event, the disney "holiday" surcharges do not have to encompass a traditional holiday. The current period is May25,2008-July5,2008. After that expect Thanksgiving week, and probably December16-January 2 ( per disney dining, not official yet)

It hasn't accepted the plan in at least two years, so the first year may have been the only year for them.
