My boss is having a holiday party at his home and he has invited our team (there are 4 of us). His party is not formal but definitely not casual either I would say it falls right in between. I have been to his house once before and brought wine and cookies. I don't know what to bring this time when I go. I figured I would bring wine or something like that again but also wanted to bring something else. Anyne have any neat ideas for other ideas besides wine and cookies? Thanks

My husbands boss had his holiday party at his home last night, we brought a box of Godiva chocolates. It was a medium sized box which was about $25 or so.

Is this for consumption while you're there or is it a gift? Either way, wine is nice as is a dessert such as cheesecake or the like. Depending on the menu (is it snacks?), some cheese goes nicely with wine. Or a fruit tray or veggie tray maybe.

If it's a gift a nice gift basket centered around wine is good.

MY DH is "the boss" and we've hosted Christmas parties in our home for more than 15 years. We get all kinds of things as gifts from the people who attend. Some of the things I remember right off the top of my head are: wine, wine & cheese baskets, cakes decorated for Christmas, small decorated
Christmas trees that can be "replanted", homemade candy & cookies, gift certificates to restaurants and gag gifts that *can't be talked about here*!!! ;)

I assure you, we don't expect *anything* for just coming to our party and it surprises us how thoughtful people are. I bet your boss doesn't expect anything either, so any gift of wine, cheese or fruit would most likely be a nice surprise and greatly enjoyed :teeth:

This is one of our company Christmas parties. You wouldn't *believe* what the blonde in the far right of the pic brought us as a gift!!! :faint:

It's nice of you to want to bring something. Unless people have been asked to bring something I would stay away from anything you'd expect them to put out. That's always awkward for the hostess who's planned a menu and now has to fit in something that might not go.

Depending on what you want to spend a liquor could be nice and something different. Godiva makes one that's nice.

I like to get flowers, so that's what I give, too. :) But they'd better be in a vase. The last thing a hostess needs is a gift that requires more work on her part!!!!

How about Peppermint Bark or Pannetone? I know Trader Joes has tons of both right now at reasonable prices.

When we've hosted my firm's Christmas party, we received some very nice gifts, including: gourmet flavored hot chocolate, a silver bell with the year on it, a silver filigree ornament filled with potpourri, Godiva chocolates, a pointsetta, a bottle of champagne (very nice to have right before New Year's), a bottle of wine, a holiday tin of cookies.
As others have said, I am sure you aren't expected to bring something, but it is very nice of you to want to.

Thank you all for responding and giving great ideas. I really appreciate it :)

A nice plant (with a holiday bow tucked in) and a bottle of wine.
