Holiday parade filming

Hello,

Any guesses as to when holiday parade filming will be happening at Disneyland this year? Also, what kind of impact does it have on the parks, shows, etc?

Thanks!

When I went last year, it was the days following Veteran's day. Something like the 12th or the 13th, maybe even that Thursday...I think. Then there were some performances, so maybe around the same time give or take a few days. There were a lot of filming and performances going on.

Was it neat to be there during it or kind of a pain? We wouldn't (can't) switch our trip but just curious what that would be like. I could imagine good and not so good scenarios...

A few years ago, we managed to visit on a day they were filming. That turned out to be a great day since most people were interested in the filming. Once we cleared Main Street, the wait for rides was short and swift and we got to meet so many characters that day. It was phenomenal.

Kind of random, but I think the garland on Main Street doesn’t go up until after they film. So if it looks bare, that is why

I've never been there during filming but a friend has. And they say once you get past Main Street the parks pretty empty. So I think as long as you stay away from the route while filmings going on you'll be okay.

It depends on if it's important to you. I personally found it a pain because they had set up a stage to film Gwen Stefani's Christmas song. They also had a bunch of radio DJs from all over watching the parade, plus the filming so it was entirely more crowded on top of the already very busy time of the year with APers and visitors. I didn't care to watch/pay attention to the filming, but that's just me. It was much more of an inconvenience. Then again, everyone is different. Some people find that stuff interesting. I do not. I come to the parks to ride the rides, see shows, and various other attractions. When there's extra stuff going on, it creates even more of an obstacle to get around.

Its in November. We were there once (2 years ago) during filming and we loved it. The park was not overly crowded and we walked up 10 minutes before parade and got a great seat on the curb (just way down at the other end of main street. My kids loved that they got to see the parade thats on tv without all the craziness.

Our first ever trip was the first Saturday in November (this was 2011, keep in mind) and they were filming the parade at Disneyland that day. It didn't interfere with our day/plans at all, really.
