Hi all :wave2:

Just wondering if anyone has a good packing list for things to take to Florida they could share - just want to make sure I'm not forgetting anything. Thanks! :goodvibes

Hi

We go in October this year too - staying at ASMovies! I'm very interested in following this to see what people advise we take. There's me, DH, DS (8) and DD (5).

Also what's the weather usually like mid-October? I'm presuming hot during the day with no rain :thumbsup2 and then cooler in the evenings (perhaps need a jumper/fleece)??

It doesn't matter what time of year you go - even in the summer you need a jacket/cardigan/sweater because the air con in restaurants and shops is always on :thumbsup2

I pack as little as possible. Typically we fly out there in old trainers and buy new out there.

My list would be:
- clothes - 5 t-shirts, cardigan, shorts, skirt, 7 days of underwear, 2 bikinis, PJs + jeans, hoodie and tshirt for plane.
- shoes - I pack sandals and then wear trainers for plane.
- netbook and charger (with adaptor).
- USB plug - then you only need one adaptor for your phone, iPods, camera etc.
- cheap jewellery (think Accessorize rather than Ernest Jones!)
- I keep the "virtually run out" makeup during the year and take that.
- hat
- toothbrush + mini toothpaste

When we get there we do a quick trip to Walgreens or wherever for shampoo, toothpaste, suncream, razors etc. It's no more expensive than in the UK and usually cheaper (especially for suncream).

Buy a book at the airport.

Umbrella is often a good idea - shade in the sun, protection from the rain.

I have one of these and have never more than half-filled it. Typically we go for 9-12 days. I do buy stuff out there but it's never been full on the way back.

In my handbag (like this one) I take my phone, purse, passports and paperwork, camera, sunglasses, tissues, small hairbrush and hairties (looped around the handle), earplugs, a few paracetamol and hand gel for the plane.

You really don't need much.

Hiya Joanne74

We have travelled in October for the past 4 years and every year we have had at least one day when the temperature has bolted down to around 50-60 degrees, like it is here at the moment maybe a little colder. The day before and the day after it was back in the late 80's. In 2008 we had a really cold couple of days, everyone will tell you the Florida weather is sooo unpredictable.

In 2009 we had record highs for October were it was in the mid 90's for nearly 2 full weeks, still in the third week it shot down to around 50 but again back up to 82 the next day.

I always make sure we all have a light pullover for the first couple of days should we need it, more for in the restaurants as they can get quite chilly, but by the second week we have all usually bought a hoody of some kind each so tend to wear what we have bought if the weather takes a dive.

You will love October

just dug out ours and all what on it for me is 1 T shirt, 1 short and 1 pair sandals
Unable to put on the DW list as page not big enough :rotfl:

Had to get the fahrenheit converted to celsius to make sense of this!! :rotfl: and  that sounds cold!! We went in November 1999 and I only remember it being hot and then cooler in the evenings.

I'm going to have to re-think my packing and make sure we take a few warmer clothes.

Thanks for the warning!! :)

This may sound a little crazy but I always pack a few clothes pegs! The reason being is that the Disney Hotels have a little clothes line that goes over the bath and I find it easier to peg out wet swimsuits etc to dry out as if I just fold them over the line they tend to fall on the floor or into the bath! A little random but thought it might help someone!

Same. I think a lot of folk take way more than necessary. If you have the space and luggage allowance for it, no problem. I prefer not to take things if I don't have to. My motto is if I think I might need it (which probably means I wont) and I can get it there if necessary, which you can for pretty much anything, then it doesn't come with me. Coming back? Well that's another story all together :rotfl2:

Not crazy at all. I may throw in 3 or 4 pegs now with that in mind :thumbsup2

Have you got a passporter wdw guide book? if you do, it has a fab packing list. I think you might be able to get it on their website too. www.passporter.com

A good tip if you have alot of things that need charging is to take a UK extension lead and travel adaptor and plug all your chargers into that.

If you have young kids it is worth taking their preferred calpol/ibuprofen just in case. You tend to get it in grape or bubblegum flavour in the US.

Do not overpack. There is the hotel laundry and you will shop.

Don't take dressy clothes/heels it's not that sort of place.

For kids uv suits are ideal for the waterparks/water shoes/crocs.

Very good tip :thumbsup2 I bought a travel multi plug a couple of years ago which was great. Because of the size of the 2 pin sockets, the extension works better as we find as soon as there is any sort of weight on the cord, it pulls the pins out :sad2: Our plugs are much bulkier than the US ones. The good thing with an extension cord, aside from being able to charge multiple electrical items at the same time, is that the weight of all the plugs rests on the floor so there is no problem with the actual connectors slipping out of the power point. The first year we had to balance suitcases and things underneath to keep it in the wall. we have learnt :lmao:
