Holiday Money for teenager?

My 17 yo will be taking approx $1000 for her own spending money for our trip and I am wondering whats the best way to take it?. this is for her own use as we are on DDP but she wants to buy soem clothes etc and I wonder whats the best way to take it.

We have 3 younger kids going and will be taking their spending money in cash so it can be easily split into days for them and also some cash for ourselves but do not really wnats to be carrying a large amount of cash during traveling. Once we get to Florida all cash will be put into safety deposit box and split into days .

We ALWAYS use cash. I know some may say to mix it up, but cash it best for us. Stick most of it in the hotel safe and take what you want per day.

I would let her take cash and separate it into days just like you're doing for yourself. That's they way my parents taught me, it worked really well and I still do it. With the Travellers Cheque card it's harder to keep track of what you're spending and cash is easier to separate than TCs. I know cash is a little more risky than TCs (we take an even split) but with a hotel safe I think cash is the best bet for her.

I know I replied to this elsewhere but just to add:
I've heard horror stories from people who have lost all their holiday spends because they brought all cash, it may be rare but it's preventable. I don't think there is any reason to carry all cash nowadays at least for Florida holidays as traveller's cheques are so widely accepted.
Hotel safes can and do get robbed (in Orlando robbing is more common than mugging) and traveller's cheques are so much more secure in this situation.
I wouldn't have thousands of pounds/dollars in cash over here (in my home or on my person) so it's no different on holiday.

Why not take some in cash and just take your cash point card and draw a few lump sums out when you need it. Just a thought.

Are you staying at a disney hotel, because if you are you can get a room card which is like a charge card and you pay it at the end of your trip. My DD 14 had one and loved it

with my DS 16 this year we just put everything on a credit card and then he paid it when we got home

and he didn't spend as much as other years either

just ketp an eye on what he was spending
plus he had a few $$$$$$$ cash as well

I'd take some cash for her & then travelers cheques as they are easy to use & stop you having to carry a large amount of cash

With my only daughter I usually pay for everything and we have a count up in the evening to see how much she owes and then she pays me at the end of the holiday, at home.
This has worked well on both our last trips, she was 17 and 18.
Maybe alot more difficult when you have more children, but I felt her money was safe.
