LOOKING FOR INFORMATION ON THIS HOTEL AND WONDERING IF IT CAPARES TO TO HOLIDAY INN SUNSPREE. I HAVE GATHERED ALL OF THE INFORMATION ON HIFS THANKS TO THIS BOARD, BUT NOT MUCH ON THESE TWO HOTELS. ANY INFO WOULD BE OF GREAT HELP. I HAVE STAYED AT THE SUNSPREE AND ENJOYED IT ALOT. THE PRICE OF MAINGATE EAST AND SUNSPREE ARE QUITE A BIT CHEAPER. THANKS TO ANYONE WITH INFO ABOUT MAIN GATE EAST.

Main gate East is a much older hotel - the location is older too - but I think they are both good hotels.

You know the location and the motel and, unless you didn't like it, I would go there again.

The Main Gate East is older. The location on route 192 is quite close to World Drive, about 5-8 minutes away. It is also close to Old Town, within walking distance.

The Comfort Suites, next door to the HI Maingate, are newer and a better value, IMO. But, if you are just comparing the three Holiday Inn motels, the order of preference I would give would be: 1. HIFS, 2. Sunspree 3 Main Gate.

Hope this helps.

I am mostly interested in the kids eat free program as I will have 2 eleven yr. olds with me. Also, I will be without a car and I will have to rely on the hotel transportation. I have ressies now for POR @$89.00/nt, but I need to weigh all options, since we will be on a very tight budget.

Thanks to all for the info

We just returned from a great week at the HI Maingate East. Purchased a package on Expedia which included air/6 nites hotel. Hotel averaged to around $45/nite incl. tax. Room with VCR, frig, microwave, 2 double beds. Quite comfortable. Very close to Disney and 15 minutes to Universal/IOA (where we spent most of our time). Immaculately kept. Convenient "general store" in lobby. VCR library in lobby. Very nice pool, kiddie pool and big pool. Also very quiet, felt very comfortable. We've stayed there twice before. Asked for room in new building and we were quite pleased.

I think you have a good price onsite at POR for less than 100.00 dollars a night which is a excellent rate.

I would pack a cooler put some milk in there some fruit and have ceral for breakfeast. Also carry a snack into the parks with to. They plenty food that will not spoil that carry in for a lunch.
