I want to hang light since this is the first time in a house and want to know where do I plug them in? Should there be somplace outside or do i put it trough a window and plug inside??? I am new to this decorating thing.

Hopefully you will have an outlet on the outside of the house. Make sure you put up lights that are designed to go outside, OK? They will say "outdoor" or "indoor/outdoor" on the package. With all the rain/snow/moisture outside, they are designed not to be an electrical hazard.

Have fun! Decorating the outside of our house is a very happy family tradition!

We use the front porch light socket. You can get a converter that you screw into the socket so that you can plug in the lights. Once you get a system - the following years are much easier. (Our biggest problem is remembering which type of strand of lights go where.)

We have a socket on our front porch. I also got a nifty thing that you can plug three things of lights in, which means I can plug 4 things in. If I get another of those things I can plug 6 things in! The right side of the porch looks bare because one of my light sets died , so I sense a trip to Lowes in my future!

I used the extension cords and plugged mine into the back of the house....But definitely outside.....
