Holiday Inn

I'm with you on the value for money issue Michael. However our experience of TNBay did match our expectations when we visited last year.

I can draw a similar comparison on expectations on the Santa Fe. We were guided by our local holiday shop to stay here as opposed to the MTExplorers on our first visit to DLP. (both similarly priced at the time)

Because it was a Disney hotel we had high expectations and were dis-sappointed. Our rooms had a terrible damp smell, we had to repeatidly ask for our Tv to be tuned in (and with a child of 2 at the time this was an inconvenience), Buffet times were a free for all, very very very busy, difficulty in getting a table and a lack of organisation.

The next year we stayeed at MTExplorer and found the very opposite. Nothing was too much trouble, well organised and lovely clean rooms.

Having said all that we made the most of every visit so always have a good holiday there.

Its horses for course when talking about your expectation levels and hotels meeting your expectations. Whats a good service level to one family , may not be to another.

me, I'm happy as long as the room is clean, the food well prepared and cooked and that the little'un is happy and enjoying herself :yay:

Hi Sarah

We are going to be visiting DLP for the first time this Xmas and staying at the HI too, from 22nd-27th December. I debated a long time over which hotel, but after reading extensive reviews I am pretty comfortable with our choice now. Did you book directly with Holiday Inn?

How are you getting there? I am trying to decide between shuttle or TGV to get us from CDG airport to hotel, any thoughts?

Elizabeth

OK, you're right I'm wrong. Case Closed.

Just arguing the case for the defence!

Sarah, we stayed on the Admiral's Floor too, I don't think I would contemplate staying in the NPB in a standard room, like yourselves we also benefited from the VIP breakfast which was superb.
Not having stayed offsite I have nothing to compare the Disney hotels too, but from my own experience the NPB was worth the extra money compared to the Cheyenne, the Admiral's floor room was worth the extra money compared to the standard room, the Cheyenne is definately worth the extra money compared to the Santa Fe, which incidently I didn't like and wouldn't stay at again.
Do come back and tell us how you got on. :)

Elizabeth,

We used the ichotels web site as I am a priority club member. Including breakfast we paid between 80-100 euros a night for a room with a double and bunks. I cant remember what the rates were in the Disney web site but I remember it being considerably higher. I also believe it is now higher on IChotels website so they must operate a similar system to budget airlines by putting the price up when there is a demand.

We are flying with British Airways from Bristol and have always caught the Disneyland shuttle Buses from CDG as they drop off outside the hotel wheras the TGV stops outside the parks and you will need to get the shuttle bus to the hotel. Just that extra bit of hassle dragging the cases etc.

Jill,

I hope to post some pics after the next visit along with an honest opinion on the HI (positive or negative). ;)

Hello,

we stayed 15 nights this year in August/September in the HI, so we have some experience now :) . I stayed in the SL and the DLH before.

1. Reception: Ok, freindly but not very helpful when you have a problem, because they are understaffed and sometimes give standard answers. It is a little bit like communicating with an automated email answering. system  . But they upgraded us to an executive room with an empty fridge. Great choice if you have a car (like we did) to buy food in the shopping mall. Kettle in the room is a good thing too.
2. The room size was ok and the bath was clean. The room service was below average for a 4 star hotel, they were sometimes forgetful.
3. The breakfast was ok and filling for a french hotel. We were there in high season and had no problems to get seated. They have a list at the entrance now, so no free breakfasts anymore for the scroungers :thumbsup2 .
The seatings are worn out now (it's a family hotel)

They miss the "Disney Service" we enjoyed in the SL and the DHL but we paid 84 Euros per night inkl. breakfast in high season!

The shuttle bus is sometimes overcrowded. Most of the times, we used our dream passports to park at the HNY.

Conclusion: I think it is more a 3 Star than a 4 Star hotel but you cannot beat the price! We saved 1300 Euro compared to the SL. For a short stay (2-3 nights) maybe I would go to the SL, HNY or DLH. If you want to stay longer HI is a very good choice if you have no problems with the crowds in the shuttle busses or if you have a car.
