Has anyone stayed at the Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites on S Walnut? I found a few old posts about it, but was hoping for more recent experiences. What's the best way to get to the parks from there? I've heard walking to the DL parking lot and having the tram take you to the gates is one way. How about the restaurant in the hotel? Is the breakfast good and fast? Say we wanted to grab a quick bite before heading out in the morning. Just hoping to hear some experiences!

It's a nice hotel. Yes, you can walk to Mickey & Friends and take the tram to the main entrance. This takes about 10 mins. Or you can walk to the DTD Monorail stop (15mins), or all the way to the park entrance in about 20 mins. Whichever way you choose, the walk is very peaceful and pleasant at anytime of the day.

When we stayed there, we didn't eat in the restaurant, but it looked nice. We chose to walk over to DTD each morning for breakfast.

We really liked this hotel, and I recommend it, especially if you want to be a bit closer to DTD than other places on Harbor.

Is it hard to find the Mickey & Friends lot area? Or is it obvious? I am glad to hear the good review! We always have good experiences with the Holiday Inn, but I was kind of worried about the distance. Doesn't sound like it'll be a problem.

What is good for breakfast in DTD? That's something I never even thought of!

HI on S Walnut is my go to off site hotel. Nothing special but clean and decent. Predictably mediocre as I like to say! Restaurant food is OK, but we usually skip it in favor of a DTD for breakfast but it is nice to have a full service restaurant at the hotel.

From the Holiday Inn, you walk down Walnut to Magic Way and turn left. From there you have the option to cross into the M&F parking lot cutting across the over sized lot...Chip and Dale section if I remember correctly...and grab a tram (there is a walkway that goes across the tram circle road to get to the loading area) or head right towards DTD and enter by the ESPN zone. Manageable walk for an able bodied person, but can be a bit tiring at the end of a long day.

In DTD, one of my favorite restaurants that is often overlooked for breakfast is Catal. You can get a full table service breakfast for almost what you pay for a counter service breakfast from LaBrea express once you add in juice and a pastry and I don't think LaBrea food is all that great, although I know others like it.
