Vanessa, you've done a marvelous job!!! :teeth: Everything looks very festive!! ::yes::

Care to fly up here and do my place? Please? :teeth:

I really like the garland with all the presents!!

I'd be worried about the garland by the fireplace though....could be dangerous!!

I've never seen a cemetary lit by candles, like that. It does look nice, very serene.

I'll get some real greenery in a couple of weeks. :)

So, which ones are yours? :smooth:

Wait wait!!!

I have a confession to make.....:o

You know, I'm not very artistic, or creative, and it drives me nuts!! DH however, is good at that sort of thing. In fact, he's made/decorated three of our Christmas wreaths (artificial ones). Did a bang-up job too!! ::yes::

I do however, decorate my trees quite nicely, if I say so myself. I hem and haw about the placement of each and every decoration. :o Stand back and look at it from every angle. It must be just so!! :o

Okay, I feel a lot better now that I have that off my chest! :teeth:

kim...none of it is mine...I am not near that far into my decorating yet....actually, I havent started yet. LOL it's all in my head at this point.

Hmmm, a husband that can decorate a wreath? sounds good to me. i want to see your trees and john's wreaths...please...c'mon?

You might see a pic around Easter, Vanessa, once I figure out Photoshop. :o :o

How about an aluminum tree!! :teeth:

You know, the other day I was in the bookstore and I was browsing through a book titled "The Art of the Aluminum Christmas Tree" Very artsy and campy! Too cold and spare for me, but they're making a bit of a comeback. The pic below is from a site where you can buy vintage aluminum trees. The one in the photo is from the 50's. It was an interesting book!

Aluminum Pom Pom Tree. :smooth:

Now don't all rush to order one at the same time!! :teeth:

*Oh my, I didn't realize it was going to be such a BIG tree!!

After years of swearing I would never, last season we bought a *fake * Christmas tree The kind with the lights already on it.

Our son was outraged!! ... I did train him well, didn't I?.... LOL

I'm looking forward to putting it up shortly after Thanksgiving (something else I used to complain about other people doing). This way, I avoid last minute running around trying to get the house ready in time for the holidays. This will be especially great this year because the weekend prior to Christmas we are going to fellow DIS'ers house from our cruise all the way up in New Hampshire for "cookie night" which actually will be during the day.

Great pictures. I'm great at copying decorations but not so great at coming up with my own ideas. I'm fully in the Christmas mood now. My neighbor put up his lights yesterday and one of the local radio stations is playing Christmas music 24/7.

I'm not in the Christmas mood yet, but I am going through the motions. I have tons of funny family Christmas tree stories that I should write down for my family. I was the one insisting on a real tree but eventually I grew tired of picking needles out of the rug for months afterwards. Quite a few years ago I asked the kids if we could buy an artificial tree. They said Ma, we don't have to put up a tree but just don't get one of those fake things. That year I bought a giant poinsettia, put it on one of those round tables in the corner and put our presents under it. Another year I went down in the woods and cut a bare branch, sprayed it and hung a few things on it. The oldest son came home and didn't say a word. The youngest one came in the door and said. What is that in the corner? The Oldest remarked, "That's Mom's attempt at art." Over the years trees have come and trees have gone. Three years ago I finally bought one of those narrow fake trees. It looks fake but I don't care.

Are you in the Christmas mood yet, Chessie, now that you bought a poinsettia? ;) :)

A bare branch, instead of a Christmas tree? Christmas, pared down! I'd love to do that, someday! :D
