Holiday events 2006? Anyone else planning now?

What is the Pop Warner event and why do we want to avoid it? We'll be at the VWL on our dvc points.

Are all the Christmas decs up after Thanksgiving? We want to make sure we go when it's all ready. We're really just going for the decorations.

thanks all you holiday wdw veterans!!

Epcot Mom

I plan to fly to Orlando on Thanksgiving Day, visit my mom (on the east coast) for 2 days, spend 5 or so nights at WDW (haven't reserved hotel yet), then cruise with DCL Nov. 30-Dec. 3 (cruise has been booked)! :)

This is getting more response than I thought it would!!!! :goodvibes
I am sooo excited about going to WDW over the holidays!!!! I have 2 other trips planned and this is the one I am most excited about!!!! I can't wait until they release the MVMCP dates!!!! Would love to see some pics of WL decorated.

hoping to be there december 17-24 at AKL. i am hoping to be book by my birthday which is in 28 days. going for MVMCP and as a colege graduation present to myself. might even celebrate my birthday early too :cheer2: :earboy2:

We are planning a trip too. Probably Dec 16-22 at either GF sugarloaf or Poly GVC. Can't decide yet. But it looks like I better figure it out soon since so many people are already booked.

We will be on the cruise from Dec 3-7th but will definitely be staying a few days before or after. I've never been during the holidays and just can't wait!!

I'll be there with family 12/1 - 12/9. The only thing I have definately planned is......
Karen's 4th annual Jellyrolls dismeet on 12/8. I went this year and there were over 50 disboarders. It was a blast. There's already a thread started about it in the dismeet section. Everyone had a great time

We plan to be there Dec 26th and on! I know, I know, the worst time of the year to go. But gotta work around Xmas and those school schedules. We'll book our room in January. I've been reading the boards alot to get some tips. It should be fun!
:cheer2:

I've already booked the Hoop De Doo Review for 12-10.

:wave2: Hey Ginamarie! We'll see you at HDDR on 12/10 :)

I'm another obsessive planner working on our Christmas trip 12/8-12/17 next year. So far I've booked our room and made the ADR for HDDR. We too plan to go to MVMCP (I'm thinking probably 12/12?? That's Tuesday of the week we're there I think) In any case, will plan to do MVMCP on a weekday to avoid the larger weekend crowds that attend the party.

I'm also considering signing up my will-be 8 yr old for a pirate cruise...not sure which day yet, possibly the Saturday before we return home.

Only other for sure plan, is I know we'll be doing an ADR for Le Cellier...again not sure which night yet.

The best part about knowing NOW that we'll be there next year this time is I'm totally obsessing over people's reports from the same time period this year! :goodvibes

I better hurry and book our rooms and ADRs for HDDR!!!!!! Lots to do!!! So. some one please tell me...do the party dates stay on certain days?? I saw a few people say they would be going on a Tuesday? TIA!!

Definitely hurry on the ADR. I called earlier this week for our HDDR ADR for 12/4 and the CM told us we got the second to last table for 2 for the 9:30 show time...I was pretty surprised that they were that booked already.. :earseek:

My son and I are going next December.

I wanted to go during Christmas, but my son said he'd rather stay home. :earseek:

So I decided to move the trip up to December 13-17. That way we get to attend the Christmas Party (maybe two :wizard: ), and take advantage of value season rate instead of holiday season.

This time next year we'll be there. :cheer2: :Pinkbounc

I wonder if they will continue to allow you to book ADR's as soon as they release the dates for MVMCP? :confused3

Anyone know when they started booking CP this year? Do you pay at the time of booking?

We'll be there December 9 - dont know where - and then check in to VWL Dec 10, 2006 for 5 nights. Can't wait!!!!

Oh we're in the same boat for sure then! I just found the message board by route of a cruise message board I frequent and now I'm addicted to reading up on people's reports from this December. I'm also planning to do MVMCP on a weekday for the same reasons you cited. We went to the Christmas party on a Friday night last year, and although it seemed pretty crowded (I know was a sell-out), the lines for rides weren't bad at all. This is especially true after the second parade ends. (I found the same thing to be true at the NSSHP this year. My DH and husband hopped on Space Mountain and then we went on Buzz about 20 times, just walking right on each time).

I'm also planning to go to Fantasmic and the Osbourne Spectacle of Lights on seperate nights. We tried to do them both in one night last year and it was rather rushed to get all the pictures we wanted, etc. With a week in the parks, I think it's better to spread it out.

I have a ton of proposed ADRs on my list. We wind up adding new favorite restaurants each time we go to WDW! Le Cellier is on there, of course! I'm really looking forward to taking the family to Hoop De Doo, and glad that I made those ADRs instead of waiting any longer, especially with a party our size. We're going to the 7:15 show that night.

I can't believe I'm so excited about this vacation and it's a YEAR away! :cool1:

Just talked to DM and she said she'd rather stay at a Value. Then go visit the other resorts and spend the money saved on tours, MVMCP, HDDR and other things. So, now I need to look at Value resorts. Has anyone stayed at a Value during the week after Thanksgiving? Are they decorated as well? I know we won't be in our room that long. DM maybe 74, but she has more energy and spunk than any of her daughters!!!!!

Last week I was at ASMu, and it was decorated, but not to the extent that I would make a trip there just to see the decorations.

They are decorated to the extent that they have a tree in the lobby and a few wreaths but that is it.

We just got back. Arrived the Sunday after Thanksgiving and stayed till the following Sunday. The crowds were non-exsistent. Even at MVMCP - We went on Tuesday. Saturday Night was CRAZY packed at the Magic Kingdom...well compared to the rest of the week. We had to wait 20 mins for Pirates..the rest of the week we walked on..literally!! The cheerleaders were out in droves. Actually all the parks were pretty crowded Saturday. We did MGM, then Epcot and then ended our day/stay at the Magic KIngdom. It was the most crowded day. But we can't wait to go back..we could do with out the huge crowd..maybe we will skip Saturday and make Sunday our last day. Anyway we will be making our ressies next month. We stayed off site this time and it was kind of a pain..we want to try to stay onsite this time. We are pretty limited because there are 5 of us.
Can't Wait to go back :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

I am sooo excited!!!! Now, I am rethinking about staying at a Value. I wonder how the Mods are decorated? I am sure I will end up staying at one of the Deluxes. I hope they have as good a deal at the Dolphin/Swan that they do this year. I am a nurse, would love to get the Nurses discount again. We stayed there for our honeymoon at $99.00 a night!!!! Probably won't be that great, but any discount would be nice.

Also, anyone that was there the week after Thanksgiving, are all the parks fully decorated? Do they have all the Santas from around the World at Epcot then?
