Yes but its per day and I don't know the exact amount but its more than most car rentals. :thumbsup2

They also rent bikes by the hour.

I will have a car rental but did not think I would be allowed to drive it around to look at the lights. If I can use my car rental then please someone let me know as that will save some $$$$ :yay:

No you will not be allowed to drive around FW in your rental car.

The point I was trying to make was that you have to rent it for entire day and its something like $60 per day. More then what most rental cars cost. :thumbsup2

OH OK guess I will just have to suck up that cost. since I know I will be back next summer to see what I miss this year maybe I can plan a day just at the campgrounds to get the most out of the money I would be paying for the rental. :yay:

It's about time Disney cracked down on all the "trying to out do" each other with all the tacky blow ups, also all the inconsiderate people that left lights on all night. We camped beside someone that left spot lights on that were mostly shining on our bedroom window. Even with night shades, it was way too bright. Didn't complain, though really thought about it. It will be much more tasteful with the new guidelines - more is not necessarily better! Even the trees that were on our campsite had lights all up in them - when they left a day before us they had to use an extension ladder to get them all down!

Speaking of tacky inflatables, I went into Lowe's tonight and they have a 16' tall inflatable Santa. This thing was huge! I almost bought it to tick off my neighbors :-)

Spotlights might be a bit much, but tacky is in the eye of the beholder. We have gotten many very favorable comments on our "over-decorated" site in the past. We're bringing everything this year to see how many we can fit into the new rules. Hope we don't offend our neighbors. By the way, we leave the light on at night because the inflatables are hard to re-inflate after going down. No complaints so far.:goodvibes:love:

I'm kinda fond of bright and tacky,,:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Hey North, if tacky was something that bothered me , I wouldn't have stay'd at a place that has a HUGE reputation for going all out on the decor for the Hoildayz.
Ya might wanna stay inna hotel next time and then ya won't havta grumble bout all the wonderful Christmas cheer everyone else gets outta the Fort decor.

I love all the over the top decorations myself, but if a neighboring campsite had come on the campsite I was occupying and put lights in the trees on MY site, I might want to complain as well.

My biggest complaint about the decorations when we stayed at the Fort Thanksgiving 2009 was the people who put their decorations so far forward on their campsite that they were practically in the road itself.....especially when said decorations were precisely across from the pad we were trying to park on. The road our site was on was not very wide to begin with, and DH had a very hard time manuevering our rig onto our site because of having to contend with those decorations when trying to find enough room to turn and back up. It really limited the amount of turning radius he had.

Born to Fish, I think you sort of missed my point - my neighboring campsite was infringing on our site with their lights in the trees, and mostly the spotlights shining "our" direction - not bothering their eyes all night!! Would you have liked that?? The decorations were expected and we have camped at the Fort since the year after it opened in 1972 - so we love it and will continue camping there in our motorhome - hotels are not our relaxing place.

Come on people, keep it light. I had to go back to work today after 2 weeks at The Fort. :lmao:

ahhhh,,gotcha, :thumbsup2 !!

Nope , wouldn't like that

The Halloween decorations seemed to be more "tame" then last year however, I believe that Christmas will be a different story. Hilda had her site decorated, front and back. The people who normally decorate in the 1600 loop (they back up to the main road) started to put up their decorations on Thursday and they had boxes and boxes of blowups everywhere. On Friday, they already had alot of blowups close to the main road so I guess they are going to "test" the new rules. We shall see if FW enforces the new policy.

Well, after our experience in getting our rig on our site a couple of years ago, I hope they do enforce the regulations about how close to the edge of the road the blow ups can be placed. I love Christmas and I certainly have no problem with people decorating their sites.....even excessively....as long as the decorations do not pose a safety issue for people driving and parking.
