Oh dear, oh dear. With just a few days to go before we were to set off for our first trip to WDW, we have had to cancel our holiday.

Unfortunately, the wife has become ill, suffering from palpitations and an irregular heart beat. She developed this a few weeks back, but after several clear test results and no further episodes, we (including the doctor) thought that it may have been a result of a severe chest infection, coupled with an imbalance in her thyriod replacement medicine.

However, on Tuesday afternoon, she started having these palpitations again, this time more frequent and seemingly stronger than last time. After consulting with her doctor, the advice was (quite correctly) not to travel until they can do more tests and find the exact cause of the problems, so yesterday, we had to explain to our five year old why she couldn't go to Disney this year. Needless to say, she was rather upset, but we told her that mickey isn't going anywhere and he, and all the others will look forward to seeing her another time.

So yesterday was spent either at the doctors, or on the phone to Disney (cancelling all the DDP reservations) or to the insurance to start the ball rolling to get our money back.

Although we are all upset about missing our holiday, obviously the most important thing is to make sure the DW gets better so that we can try to book again and enjoy the magic like everyone else. An ECG showed no obvious problems today, but she is now under the care of a cardiologist, so I have no doubt that they will get to the bottom of the problem and fix it.

Hope you all have some good holidays and give Mickey and co a GREAT big hug from fall of us!

Speak to you all soon.

I hope your wife gets better soon. What a disapointment. Bless you.

Sending some pixie dust and hugs. Hope your wife is better soon and you can see Mickey real soon.

:wizard:

I am so sorry to hear this and i hope your wife makes a full recovery and you can go back very soon.

It must have been hard for your 5 year old but they are tougher than you think and telling the truth is always the best to make them fully understand things.

I am sending pixie dust your way and will give mickey a hug and tell him you will be visiting him as soon as you can, so he can give you an extra big hug himself.

Hope she is OK.
Our neighbour has booked 2 holidays to Florida and had to cancel both because of a similar condition. Closer the trip gets the worse she is. They have now given up trying to visit Florida and she has been fine for 3 years. They have put it down to fear of the long flight even though she does not feel worried.:confused3

So sorry to hear your news. The most iportant thing, however, is your wife's health - I hope she is feeling much better soon and that you manage to get to the bottom of the problem.

Even though this crossed my mind, I dont think it is the case with DW. DW has had both her thyriods removed, and she is taking a daily replacement to boost her throxine levels. If this is level is too high for any reason, it can cause palipitations - couple this with a seriously bad chest infection (my wife does not get ill, but this has knocked her off her feet), which in my opinion has been caused by her workplace enviroment (4 air-conditioner blowers bellowing out cold air constantly) - she has only worked there since May and has had a constant cold since - needless to say, she is moving departments or leaving when she recovers.

There are medical reasons for this - it just a case of tracking them down :)

That's such a shame! Really hope your wife's health issues are resolved as soon as possible... pixiedust:

Hope you get your wife's problems sorted quickly and are able to re-book soon.

I am really sorry to hear your news, I hope your wife starts to get better very soon x

What a shame as I know how you were all looking forward to it.Were you at Russels hall?I work in A & E.I bet she feels really bad about all this but its not her fault.Too risky with the flight as well.Perhaps you can go next year and plus DD will probably be taller by then to go on extra rides.Hope your wife gets well soon.

Not sure about the Aircon. I keep my shop at a nice cold 10-12c with an aircon unit built for Beer cellars and Florists, Its about 24-26c outside now but I am here with 4 layers of clothing on to try keep warm. I believe working in these cold conditions is the reason I have not been poorly for 18 years. But I am no expert:goodvibes She will have to do what she feels happy with.

Thinking of you all Baggie & hope that all goes well & that you can soon start planning your trip again.

Take care of her & wish her well because she must be devastated at this time, but health always comes first.

Aw no,I hope she is soon on the mend.

I had an ECG done for my palpatations back in 2004 right before our holiday.
They found I had a few extra beats than normal but it wasnt a worry, they also said it was more the fact of me getting wound up about the flight.

I hope they give her an answer soon, they are horrible when they start up,very scary.

xxxx

Can only echo what everyone else has said, I know I responded to a few of your earlier 'planning' questions.
Hope your wife is better soon, and I am sure it won't be long before you are booking to go to Florida.

How sad :sad1: . Sending your DW lots of hugs:grouphug: . Hope she makes a speedy recovery and that you get to book and plan your new holiday very soon :wizard:
