Oh dear, oh dear. With just a few days to go before we were to set off for our first trip to WDW, we have had to cancel our holiday.
Unfortunately, the wife has become ill, suffering from palpitations and an irregular heart beat. She developed this a few weeks back, but after several clear test results and no further episodes, we (including the doctor) thought that it may have been a result of a severe chest infection, coupled with an imbalance in her thyriod replacement medicine.
However, on Tuesday afternoon, she started having these palpitations again, this time more frequent and seemingly stronger than last time. After consulting with her doctor, the advice was (quite correctly) not to travel until they can do more tests and find the exact cause of the problems, so yesterday, we had to explain to our five year old why she couldn't go to Disney this year. Needless to say, she was rather upset, but we told her that mickey isn't going anywhere and he, and all the others will look forward to seeing her another time.
So yesterday was spent either at the doctors, or on the phone to Disney (cancelling all the DDP reservations) or to the insurance to start the ball rolling to get our money back.
Although we are all upset about missing our holiday, obviously the most important thing is to make sure the DW gets better so that we can try to book again and enjoy the magic like everyone else. An ECG showed no obvious problems today, but she is now under the care of a cardiologist, so I have no doubt that they will get to the bottom of the problem and fix it.
Hope you all have some good holidays and give Mickey and co a GREAT big hug from fall of us!
Speak to you all soon.
