Holding points question

Hello! I have seen conflicting answers to my question so I wanted to ask here before doing anything.

I have a 109 point reservation in December that is within 30 days, if I modify or cancel the reservation those points will go into holding. I also have a reservation in February that is 72 points.

If I cancel or modify the December reservation and get holding points, will I be able to use those holding points for my existing February reservation?

At the 60 day mark, you should be able to swap them. This assumes they are the same resort if you made the trip during home resort booking or it was made within 7 months.

I have had success doing it when you modify the original trip within those 60 days.
