Holding my breath when I open Dis Boards

You know, I can roll with most of it, but I've only recently been VERY disturbed by a rumor that I won't perpetuate here. It may be complete nonsense and not gonna happen, but if it does I'm gonna cry.
Oh this is just mean. Now I must know. ;-) is it being discussed elsewhere? Got a link?

But yes, op. We leave in 8 days and I'm feeling anxious. Usually it's just good anxious before a trip. Part of me wants to lock my phone and computer up so there's no new drama for at least a day or two. I'm just waiting for an email saying our wishes fp is cancelled for April 2. I just read a dining review where the portions at ca grill were smaller than a f&g portion. Gees.

Yes!!!! Every time I log on I see a new rumor that turns out to be true. Just read another thread about the train station platform being closed, chairs removed and benches installed.
It looks like every worthwhile location in the parks will be tagged 'special' so they can put a price on it, and if you don't pay you get the leftovers. By the time our July vacation rolls around we'll have to pay extra to view Wishes from the TTC.

Rumors board talks about it. It was big this weekend, though it seems to have calmed down some.

I'm hoping (maybe unrealistically) that Disney knows it has a lot of "adjusting" to do - new rides, new lands, ticket changes, price increases, etc. - and has just decided to pull off the proverbial band aid now. That way when Star Wars comes and Pandora launches, etc. they have a lot of these changes out of the way and "digested" by the public.

In short, I'm hoping this is a storm of craziness, that will settle down into a new (albeit somewhat frustrating) normal.

Oh the one extrapolated from the disney after hours announcement? Yeah, I think the would get hate mail for that one.

Nope. Nothing about After Hours. It involved Marvel properties and a re-theming. It's just such blatant rumor mongering though, I was trying not to stir the pot. Guess I did. Oh well. You can find it easily on the Rumors board.

The point of my original post: things like operating hours, special parties, cost increases, they are just a minor annoyance and don't bother me too much. When they start messing with the attractions, I can lose my mind, though I am usually fine with most changes.

I am more excited about the new things coming than the bad recent news but everyone says Universal is cheaper, when I looks at tickets it is a lot more than Disney and much less to do... what am I missing?

I agree and it's not the folks or the DISBoards themselves...its the money grab by Disney. I am all for special / VIP / Private extra fee events. But now it seems that small things (if the rumors are true), things that we all have grown to expect are going to cost us. I am thinking of the survey folks filled out recently on the resort fees. If you offer a special / VIP / Private event people will pay for it. But make it truly special / VIP / Private. I know when I did the dessert party - for one evening I felt like royalty. I felt like I paid for something above and beyond what everyone else was getting. And this is fine. But to have to pay to use transportation around the parks or get EMHs...that's just nuts (and I am just speculating - not saying anything is set in stone). I hope that Disney is reading these boards and taking notes of all the folks ready to jump to Universal. The Magic Kingdom After Dark event (don't know the real name) for $150 might be something fun. Will everyone take advantage of it - no, but there are folks that will and will love it. Disney has to make sure that this event is limited and special for those that pay the price. Don't say it is limited and then allow -1000 less than capacity of the park. Again I am just making an argument for argument sake - I don't have any specifics on how many tickets will be available.

Yes. We just got back from our yearly 12 day trip and usually, I am envious about people here still talking about and planning their upcoming trips when we have to wait a few months to start planning next year's-but not this time. Now, I feel sorry for everyone having to deal with all of this while trying to plan and am glad I don't have to think about the repercussions of all of this personally for a while.

You're missing that you can buy a Universal park-to-park season pass for MUCH less than a 3 day pass to Disney.* Universal deluxe hotels are nicer and MUCH less expensive than Disney deluxes, and staying there gets you unlimited "front of the line" access to most attractions.

*Blackout dates apply to the cheap pass.

I am just so scare to open the boards and scare not to. I stared planning our April trip in February since then so many things have change. I am afraid I am going to miss an announcement, changes or price increase and I am either going to left to scramble at last minute and over budget on the trip. We can't have that for this trip since we are leaving on a 3 week vacation a month after.

@BrianL i know what you are talking about it is disturbing but nothing will surprise coming from Disney anymore.

When I started coming here 2 years ago everything seemed much cheerier. There is definitely a more subdued tone to the boards now. I think all the changes have everyone even more stressed.

We are going back in the fall since we have APs & TIW. But I think our next trip will be Universal
.
