Hi everyone! Well, I got a call from TTC today about my contract, Disney got back to them and said that the points that were supposed to be in reservation status were really in "hold" status. I had to sign an addendum (which I have already done), but I'm just wondering if that is really a big deal. The way the agent at TTC explained it, it didn't sound like it was a bad deal, in fact, it sounded better because I could use the points to stay at the DVC resorts rather than just the Disney hotels, but he mentioned something about having to book 2 months in advance and I'm just not sure how that would all work, and whether or not I'd have any luck finding something that quickly.

What we were hoping to do with those points was to go visit Disney in July for a weekend. We're supposed to be done with closing (assuming we pass ROFR) by the 17th of May, so, do you guys think that is doable? is there anything I should know about points that are in hold status that may present a problem?

Points in holding will expire at the end of the UY if they haven't been used yet. You can make a reservation 60 days out from the start of your reservation. You might find a weekend somewhere in July. Or you might find a night here, a night there.

I personally wouldn't consider that change a bad thing at all. The worst thing about points in holding is not being able to book more than 60 days out so you can be limited to where you stay but if you're ok with any resort like we are then it's not a concern. I've never been in July so I don't know what sort of availability you'll find for a weekend. If you can be flexible with dates that will help a lot.

If given a choice, I would much rather have points in holding than reservation points. :thumbsup2
