Hojos worth full price??

I was really supprised at how high all the hotel prices were every where. I know its weekend but Really high pircesed every where.

I really wanted to do HoJos but not for $112 a night. So we did Priceline and got Crowne Plaza for $60 a night. More then what I wanted to pay but not bad for weekend.

I looked at the hotels that everyone said and I couldn't find anything for under $90 a night. So we did priceline. Usualy I can get a Holiday Inn for around $40.

Anyone know why hotels are so high? Tourning plans rates Disney as under 3-6 for the weekend.

Yes, but it is Southern California, Anaheim specifically, near Disneyland - they can charge what they want and people will pay for it. "You're not in Kansas anymore" lol.

Also, the closer the hotel is to Disneyland itself, the more expensive. Walking distance for sure comes with a price. A couple of days ago I went up for a day trip, but since I was staying late to watch the fireworks and close down the park, I wanted a cheap place to stay so I didn't have to drive home late at night. The Ramada Maingate was $130-ish a night, but I booked the Ramada Limited North, which is just across the freeway from Disneyland and about a mile and change away from Ramada Maingate and it was only $55 a night with free parking and free internet. Since I was driving to the parks anyway, I didn't mind the distance. Was the hotel crappy? Yes. There was an imprint from the iron melted into the carpet and the paint was peeling but I didn't care because I just wanted a place to rest my head. I never felt unsafe, but it wasn't a luxury hotel.

If the hotel prices have you shocked, brace yourself for when you see food and gas prices ;)

Im used to the gas and food price :thumbsup2 we go down to Disneyland about every 6 weeks or so. I was just suprissed at tem being higher when its a low crowed week with nothng going on. But i guess its like that all the time now. :sad2:

Im happy with our hotel. I will give a review of it when we get back. :cool1:

I think defining "worth it" to be a personal choice. Everyone looks for something different in a motel/hotel.

For our family, we find the prices at HoJo "worth it" for us. We really enjoyed our stay. The rooms are big, the beds are heavenly, the staff was always friendly, the rooms were clean, the housekeeping staff were awesome after 2 kids got sick, the mini-mart was perfect for picking up items, we had an awesome view of DL, we ALL loved Castaway Cove, the grounds are beautiful & we felt safe & stuff secure.

If we can't stay on property, HoJo is on the top of OUR list when booking.

Castle Inn was not the worst place we ever encountered.....we did not notice any bugs in the beds! They had the weirdest bumpy floor there...couldn't figure it out. Very strange.

Worst hotel was in Minneapolis. Part way through the night (sitting on the edge of the bed in our clothes) we phoned the Holiday Inn Metrodome. When I requested a room for later that day, I was told 4pm check-in, $120/night. When I told the front desk lady where we were calling from she said "Honey you guys get here right away and we will make sure to have a room ready". Checked in around 6 am and they gave us a suite for our hotel stay at less than the cost of a standard - around $80. Awesome service, and very much appreciated at the time!! Hotel was a Best Western previously but had lost the right to use the BW name.....not sure how that works, but we had booked a BW and it was no longer a BW when we got there. Filthy doesn't even come close. And the drug dealers in the hallway were just bonus.

So we know bad, and Castle Inn was not in that category...but would definitely not stay there again just to save a few bucks.

There were no bugs in the bed but the room was dirty, there weren't enough blankets or towels (we had 4 towels for 6 people) and the staff YELLED at my DD14 when she called the front desk. We asked repeatedly for towels, never got them, asked for extra blankets (3 beds) and we got 1 blanket...it was just ridiculous and no matter how many times we stopped at the front desk to ask for items or to speak with management we were totally blown off. The worst hotel we stayed in was in Winnemucca NV, the floors looked clean but they turned out feet completely black...won't stay there again either.

$60 for the CP is good!! We've stayed there before and liked it, we don't do Priceline tho, they won't guarantee 2 beds and with 2 kids we have to have at least 2 beds. :)

Does HOJO Anaheim have any plans to update the TV's in the rooms? I don't know how common it is in the area but at least in Orlando it's hard to find a hotel without at least something flat on TV.

I've wondered this too. They do have cheap flat screens in the kid suites, but, I've never found the signal all that great there so it doesn't look a lot better on a flat screen. I thought when they refreshed the deluxe rooms in building 2 that we would see new flat screens in there maybe, but that was not the case when we last had that room type in February. In all honesty though it's not a big deal to us since we don't watch that much t.v. anyway.
