OK, I already know how the group's gonna answer this, but I have to ask.

DW, DGD7, and I are going (again) to DLR July 10-14. I booked this trip last March/April, and already then, HoJo was booked. I know, it's the MLB All-star game, things are booked, bad timing, etc. Most everything close (that I'd both want to stay at and be willing to pay for) was booked. But I got a great deal at Hotel Peppertree, about 4 miles away. Huge 2-Queen suite with living room & kitchen for $334, including tax. Breakfast for next to nothing -- I think it was $5/day for everyone in the room.

Anyway, our favorite Deluxe queen room at HoJo just became available, and I snapped it up. First night at the AP rate (same as ENT rate), last 3 nights at full rate minus 20% AP discount. Total $472 including tax.

Now I'm undecided about which one I should keep.

Peppertree
- Breakfast for next to nothing
- Bigger room, including a kitchen
- Terrific reviews on TripAdvisor
- Nice looking pool, but nothing like HoJo's Pirate's Cove
- A little less expensive, but not enough to sway the decision
Cons:
- Parking at Disney.
- Afternoon break would involve hassle of re-parking car

HoJo
- Walking distance! Can easily take afternoon break without car hassle.
- DGD7 loves Pirate's Cove!
- The HoJo staff
Con:
- No free breakfast. I like Mimi's but it takes time in the AM. DGD is not a morning person!

I think Hydroguy's Hotel Rule is going to win this argument. But I'd love to hear input from my DIS buddies.

I Would go with HOJO, i am all about the hojo! i loved :) the hojo, can't the walking distance, specialy if you need a nap half way during the day. the pool area is awesome, and the rooms are nice, minus no breakfast, but hey mcd's and mimi's is right next door along w/captian kidds!!

i totally would choose the hojo over any other hotel:)

Thanks for the reply, Funball.

Yes, I'll most likely stay with the HoJo's reservation. I *really* like Peppertree's huge room size, with living room and kitchen. It will be tough to give that up. But the combination of being walking distance, plus Pirate's Cove which DGD loves, will probably take the day.

So, anyone else with an opinion?

ok i am 30 and i even love pirates cove.. is that soo wrong??

So do they let you go down the slide, or do you just splash around the water bucket and water canon area? I ask because I know DGD will take me by the hand and want me to go down the water slide with her. But I don't know if they'll allow that.

Last time, we went in December, and I let her drag me under the water bucket. Brrr. I then immediately jumped into the hot tub.

Maybe you already thought of this, but since DGD is not a morning person, you could head over to Mimi's when she and your wife are still getting ready and pick up some breakfast take-out. They have some yummy and huge muffins that would be easy to eat as you walk, and I'm sure they have many other suitable choices for a quick fuel up in the room if you'd rather eat before you walk.

I say HoJo...

We did cold breakfast in the room.. We got pastries, (Etamins coffe cake.. Ohh devine...) cereal, milk, and fruit.. And Smuckers Goober peanut butter and jelly... Nothing like a pb&j with a glass of milk in the morning... These are easy things and don't require real work.... Just kind of grab and eat, when your ready.... I say grabbing a cold breakfast is WAY easier then doing the waiting, parking, waiting, tram thing, back and forth several times a day.... And if you have to have protein you can always buy pre cooked bacon...

I love the HoJo.. The staff is awesome. So HoJo all the way...

I would also say HoJo, but not just cause I love it!
It seems that you are trying to justify the breakfast plan...and I would say-even stocking-up on easy fixins for the hotel or making a trip to Mimi's/McD's would be easier than the car parking/shuttle situation.
The larger room sounds nice, but is it necessary for the 3 of you? and to sacrifice ample DL time by riding the shuttle or finding parking?
The kitchen would be nice for a longer trip, but I don't think 3-4 days is enough time to fully utilize that convenience.
Anyway, that is my two cents. And to answer an earlier question...Yes, big kids can go on the slides and Yes it is fun! =)

The breakfast plan is part of it, as is the price. But the main thing is the spacious room, kitchen, and living room. Being able to put DGD to bed, while DW & I stay up to sip wine and talk softly, :lovestruc has a lot of appeal.

But I agree, the convenience of not having to hassle with parking, plus Pirate's Cove, will probably win the day. Funny thing, DW was talking to DGD on the phone last night, and I heard her say "Guess where we're staying?" I quickly conveyed that I wanted that kept quiet (to preserve our options), and DW recovered well without spilling the beans. But I think it's clear that DW & DGD would prefer HoJo too.

no those nerds wont let me go down the slide.. apparantly it has to do something with i weigh to much and i'm too tall or old or something.. i can't imagine that is the probem! :) i like the hot tub at night the parentals(not mine the kids parents) sit there and drink the wine with plastic cups.. i saw this last time i stayed and we all watched the fireworks..
