Hojo Trees

I read somewhere, a while ago, that the trees in front of building 1 were supposidly getting cut down in November. Did this actually happen?

We stayed in building 1 the first week of December and the trees were still there. I don't know if they were taken down since then?

We were there 18-20th Dec and they were most definately still there then...infact they did block our fireworks view a little.

But also I like trees, so would be sad to see them go!

They do block the view, but it's minimal. I like the trees, I hope they don't remove them.

I read somewhere that the trees are some kind of Anaheim history and they're not allowed to cut them down. I don't know if that's true, but I remember reading that.

Hi Everyone!

The trees were supposed to come down in November- but they have been here since the hotel opened, and our current owner actually planted them with his father- so he is feeling a little bit sentimental [understandably] about cutting them down.

We are supposed to have another talk about it after the New Year, and I promise I will keep you posted on anything/everything that I find out!

PS- Just so you all know, my vote is for the removal of these trees, and the replanting of a similar kind in the spaces between the balconies- so that it won't block the view from the rooms!

Maybe you could do some selective thinning.

In other words, maybe cut down a few of the trees.....the ones that REALLY interfere with the view, if there is any. And then prune a few of the branches of the remaining trees if needed.

Or if none of them terribly interfere with the view, then just do some pruning here and there of a few branches.

That would be more of a compromise for your owner. I can understand why he would be sentimental about them. Now that I know the story, I would feel terrible if all the trees he planted with his father many years ago were cut down.

Lorealle- thank you for responding. Once the replies started coming in that the trees were still there I started searching around for the post that I had originally seen stating the November time frame and of course found nothing and was starting to think I had made the whole thing up. Glad to know I am not as wacky and some (ie, DH) may like to lead me to believe

No! You're definitely not wacky!

Since the trees do not interfere much with the view of the fireworks, between that and the fact that the trees are old, and had been planted by the owner and his father, I would feel even worse regarding their removal. For as long as the trees are healthy then just continue to take care of them, by proper care and maintenance. A little bit of pruning can go a long way.
I am a very strong proponent for keeping trees up, growing and being taken care of properly. Not turning them into firewood, etc.

My DS and I stayed in room 1605 12/19-12/20 which had a view of the Matterhorn and I thought the trees gave a very homey feel. I loved going out on the balcony and looking out through those trees at the crazy kids in the water park below (it was only 50 something degrees but they were having fun) and watching the monorail go by. Very nostalgic! Please leave the trees.

DS and I are going back to the HOJO 1/2-1/5 but budget doesn't allow for a themepark view this time. I'm sure we'll enjoy the courtyard room all the same even without the trees.
