HoJo people...answer a ? for me

I'm planning a mother-daughter quick trip in February for my daughter and myself and I'm hoping to save a few bucks. We're heading to DL in November for our big family trip, and I am pretty sure we are going to upgrade our Park Hoppers to APs.

My question is, when you're planning your trip, do you go ahead and book the HoJo and then wait to see if the Ent. rates fall on the dates of your trip? I'm wondering if it makes sense to book at room at HoJo now and then hope we get a price break.

Absolutely! I have dates booked right now for next month that I am hoping they open up entertainment rates for. It doesn't hurt to book the reservations, they have a 48 hour cancellation policy... They have a ton of November dates with the ent rate available right now (they had more dates available a few months ago because I booked some that aren't on the calendar anymore).

If the dates that I reserve HoJo for DO happen to open up with the Ent. rate, will the hotel take care of that for me when I check in, or do I need to cancel and then rebook?

I have to admit, we did this a few years back, so not sure if they still do it this way, but we just called before we actually went and asked them to change our ressie ot the new rate, and they did it without any hassle.

It would seem to me, you would better off not waiting until you got there.

You don't have to cancel. You can just call In House reservations and ask them to apply the Ent. rate to your dates.

We booked for July 2009 and hoped the Ent. rate would show up for us, knowing that it would be possible to get some of our dates. Our dates showed up 2 weeks to 2 days before we left. Each time a date became available I just called the Hotel and asked them to apply the change. My Hotel portion ended up being 1/2 of what I thought it would be. Our last date opened up 2 days before we left.

I just bookmarked their rate calendar in my browser and checked it every day. That way I knew if any new days had opened up.

DH and I like HoJo a lot since it has interior corridors and comfy beds, so we were willing to pay a little more than the Ent. rate if we needed to, fortunately we didn't need to.

If you are going at a high peak time, you are less likely to get the Ent. rate because HoJo will probably have all of their rooms rented, but if you are going lower capacity time it is possible that dates will open up again if you missed them.

AND, you can use your AP to get 20% off of their regular rate if you ask for it.

Yup! I agree with everyone, book the room that you want as soon as you have your dates. Then watch the rates, and have them apply them to your already existing reservation. The HOJO is awesome about that. And you don't have to prepay and they have a pretty generous cancellation policy if the cheaper rate doesn't come up.

If you're planning on getting an Annual Pass, DL AP holders get 20% of even when there are no Entertainment rates. (Also, they get the same rate as the Entertainment people during the discounted days.)
