I know your first thought is HOJO.. but here is why I ask... We can save $300 even with having the entertainment rate with airfare if we stay at the Holiday Inn.. We have stayed there before and its a nice place. Also, what is the differece in walking from HOJO to Entrance and Entrance to parking garages???

I think most would say to just walk from HOJO. I hear it's not a bad walk and people on these boards seem to think it wouldn't make sense to drive or take the ART from there.

It doesn't look like the Holiday Inn is within walking distance (it's over on Manchester, right?), so you'd probably need to drive or check on shuttles from there, which would add to the expense, but probably only to the tune of $15/day (if you have a car. If you don't have a car, the cost will depend on the size of your party. I've read ART is $3/day per person) - so you'd have to weigh the convenience of walking distance with the extra $$$ to decide what's best for you.

I haven't stayed at either, so the distance measurements are about all I can help with.

If you park in Mickey and Friends garage you would not normally walk to the Disneyland gates from there. You take the tram shuttle from the garage to the east end of Downtown Disney. From there its a short 5 minute walk to the front gates of either park. Keep in mind that the garage costs $15 unless you have an AP with parking.

You can also use the hotels shuttle if available or use ART which should stop at your hotel. That would drop you off very close to the gates.

We too wanted to stay at HOJO but could not justify the cost. Best rate I could get during spring break was $122. Instead I used Hotwire to book the Radisson located near Knotts. Its a large suite room and includes a decent hot breakfast. Cost for that was $70. It's a quick 10 minute drive at most to the garage and we have AP's so parking cost isn't an issue.

Also, what is the differece in walking from HOJO to Entrance and Entrance to parking garages???

I would say that the walking is about equal. You might have less walking if you park BUT you will spend a lot more time driving to the garage, parking, then walking to the tram, waiting for the tram, and then walking through DTD to get to the entrance.

So maybe less walking but a lot more time.

I've stayed at both, if you could stay for that much cheaper at the HI, I would just do the HI. We take the ART when we stay at HI or we also have AP's with parking so you could do that.

Also, we no longer park at Mickey and friends. We go to the Toy Story Lot. I prefer the buses and it seems much more organized than the tram and less of a hassle.

ok thank you good to know!!! yeah I think it makes more sense to stay at the HI for $300 less and use that towards other fun things for us and the kids!

The one in S Manchester is too far to walk but there is a HI in Katella that is within walking distance...

You could walk from S Manchester to the Toy Story parking lot and catch that bus from there, might be quicker than driving....
