I am making myself crazy trying to figure out which of these 2 places to stay so I really need some help! This will be our first visit to DL so I am unfamiliar with everything. We currently have a booking for the end of July in a Disneyview room but I am wavering because of the construction. The rates I can get at Fairfield is slightly less (not enough to matter). If we stay at Hojo I can get a better rate for a pool facing room..do those rooms have the new beds also? Oh, one more thing, the pool at the hotel matters quite a bit since my kids will be using it quite a bit. Thanks!:)

We've stayed at the Fairfield Inn twice and loved it. The rooms are clean, and it's just a block off of the park entrance. The pool is nice...it's your typical hotel pool. We also went back to the pool in the afternoons and everyone enjoyed it. There was plenty of room for the kids to have their inner tubes and floats without running into other people.

The good news is I've heard great things about the Hojo too, so either way you should have a great experience. Have fun! :goodvibes

The pools at both hotels (and everywhere offsite) are pretty much just that - pools. I don't know the ages of your kids, but HoJo's is putting in a water playground. It will have slides with water on them (but not water slides into a pool) and is more geared towards kids than teens. I don't know when it is opening, but I believe sometime this month.

You like that its closer and in the end that's the only thing seperating these two hotels. HOJO is suppose to have a better pool coming at the end of the summer but trust me and stay at Fairfield.

Fairfield:
closer
better views of disneyland
McDonalds in parking lot with Mimi's
Pizza Hut on 3rd floor I believe

HOJO:
Better pool
longer walk
too much noise in certain rooms
great gift shop for essentials

The difference in distance from the park is very minimal (less than 500 feet):

I just read on the HoJo boards that all their NQQ2 rooms (pool view in bldg. 2) now have microwaves! I would check with the HoJo to confirm that they have converted all the Bldg. 2 rooms to the new beds. My family normally stays in these rooms, and have found them large, quiet and comfortable.

I just looked at the most recent pics of Castaway Cove and it looks darn near finished! I would think it *may* open a bit early, but keep checking the HoJo website for the most current info.

The walking distance probably isn't that great because the FFInn is well set back.

We stayed at FFI. We liked it. But, the pool is plain vanilla. I like a hotel with a little more landscaping and would probably opt for Hojo's if I don't have points to use.

Talk to Lorealle at HoJo if you have any questions, like about the beds... I know they are replacing the beds building by building, she will know if Bldng 2 has them. She is the best, very friendly and helpful, and will knock herself out to get you what you need! lorealle.bishop@hojoanaheim.com

Hmm, somebody just posted a trip report a couple weeks ago about HoJo, and she did a video of information on it, it was pretty good. Maybe somebody else has the link.
