Hojo-noisy?

Our last stay was at the Park Vue Inn. Walls are thin and it can be very noisy. Due to our double stroller, we needed a first floor room there, so we heard noise above us as well.

So, this trip we are staying in a Kids Suite at the Hojo. Can we expect better soundproofing? Or should we prepare ourselves for a stay similar to the PVI (sound-wise)?

We stayed in the 1st floor Hojo Kids Suite last May. We were in the room right next to the elevator so we heard quite a bit of noise from people waiting for elevators. It's also near the arcade and shop so there was that background noise until about 10 every night. I'm surprised at how many people shout down hotel hallways! The great news was there were no rooms on either side of us, but the elevator made up for that. We could hear the people running water and walking upstairs, but I've come to expect that from hotels. Maybe ask if there's another Kids Suite on the 1st floor not near the elevators. The noise always stopped after 10PM. We had no trouble sleeping, and overall happy with the room. No noise at all from the freeway on the 1st floor.

There are two kid suites per floor. If you get the first floor, you can ask to be in the room away from the elevators and see if they can accommodate you. Your double stroller will probably fit into the elevator, so I'm not sure you need to restrict yourself to first floor only. You may not want the top floor though, especially if your kids need naps, since there are skylights. You can hear the highway a little, but it is so much improved now that they have added the sound-proofing. Otherwise, we have found our kid suite rooms fairly quiet.

If you get a room by the freeway it can be VERY noisy. That is what we had when we stayed there and it sounded exactly what you would think it would sound like. We liked the hotel and the staff was nice, but I don't think we would pick it again unless we could get a 110% guarantee that we would not be by the freeway. I have no idea if you could hear noise from other people because the freeway noise drowned it all out

Keep in mind you are at Disney...pretty much every hotel nearby will have noise from other families. Just depends on who you get in the rooms next to/above you.

The soundproofing was being done in late 2010. I remember we had a room there at Thanksgiving time, and it was pretty noisy. When we went back a few months later, we were on the same floor and the noise was much improved. Don't get me wrong, I'm not one of those claiming that now you don't hear the noise at all. We still hear some freeway noise, but I really don't find it as distracting now that the soundproofing is done. I don't think all rooms are equal either; to my perceptions, the noise varies by floor and which end of the building we're on.

Our stroller is a double-wide style one. It is just a bit narrower than a standard wheelchair. I've only every encountered one door where we didn't fit (an airport hotel room door......had very narrow doors for some reason). Do you think we'll "fit" at the hojo? . Basically anywhere a wheel chair can fit, we can fit.

Our 1st stay in 2010 we were on the 7th floor and the freeway noise was LOUD! We loved the room, but had to wear ear plugs to sleep at night. This past May 2012, we were 1st floor next to elevators and there was zero freeway noise! I think it's definitely better to be on a lower floor because you're behind the freeway wall, and with the added sound proofing I think it's significantly quieter.

Ditto this exactly! We stayed at Hojo in Oct. 2012 and loved the Kids Suite by the elevator (we had been on a higher level Kids Suite in 2010). It had zero freeway noise and it was nice to be on the ground floor. I'm hopeful the higher floors are quieter now that they sound-proofed them. We will see when we visit in November!

Hmmmm....maybe I should be changing my room request. I've asked for a room on floors 2-6. I didn't want the ground floor for security reasons or the top floor because of those skylights (2 toddlers needing naps).

Hojo told me that so far the first 6 floors have been "soundproofed". I know some like those 7th floor skylights alot, but they will not work well for us at all because of our young kids.

I wouldn't stay in building 1 again. It was quite noisy. We had noise from the street next to the hotel. As well as some freeway noise (we were on the end of the building, facing DL). There also was a lot of noise from people in the hallway. As someone else said people sure do talk loud and yell in those hallways! Some very late at night, or when we were napping. I've heard the other buildings are more quiet, so if we ever decide to stay again that's what I would do.

I am a super light sleeper so we always pack a soundmachine in our bag. It helps us sleep and the kiddos. I hope you have a great trip!
