HOJO Hints & Tips

Building 2 is our favorite. We have had very quiet rooms when we have stayed there. Building 1 we heard some freeway noise but once the a/c was on, we were fine. I have stayed in Buildings 4 and 6 before and have heard some freeway noise because we were the last room closest to the parking lot. Again, once the a/c was on, we couldn't hear anything.

There is no building 8, by the way. Only up to 6. :goodvibes Building 2 is the one that would face the pool.

Thanks for the information, this really helps.

For the record, I know someone here had trouble getting connecting rooms. I THINK Hojo considers "adjoining" rooms as being next-door and "connecting" rooms as being linked with a connecting door. I don't want to worry anyone but if getting rooms linked by a door is important, I would double-check with them sometime.

Yes! I spent several years as a front desk manager for a few hotels and the industry terms for adjoining and connecting are different.

Adjoining means they are right next door to each other, with no access between the two rooms. Meaning the only way to get from one room to another is through each rooms entry/front door.

Connecting rooms can be several different things. Most times it's a double sided door that links the 2 rooms, that can be locked for guests that don't need the connecting rooms and unlocked for those that do.

Or you may find that it's 2 standard rooms that have been connected together to make one big room, this is rare though. I haven't been to the HoJo's yet but after looking at the Kid's Suite layout online, it appears this is what they've done here. It looks like it started off as 2 separate probably standard rooms and the middle wall has been knocked out and connecting doors added. Usually when this happens, it's called a suite and not referred to as "connecting". This also means they can charge more for it!:rolleyes1

You will also see connecting rooms with no doorway- just a big gap that allows you to walk from one room to another without actually leaving either of the 2 rooms. This is also rare.

One word of advice- make sure to clarify with the reservation agent which you prefer. If you have older kids, or are traveling with another family then adjoining would work just fine.

If you have small children, then you would not want them to be in a separate room and would obvously request connecting. When requesting connecting rooms make sure you tell the reservation agent why and they will make note of it on your reservation. When it comes time to pre-assign rooms if the front desk agent sees you need connecting because you have small kids vs another person who requested it because they are traveling with their older parents (just an example) the front desk agent will always assign connecting rooms to those who really need it first. They wouldn't want you to be separated from your young children any more then you would want to!:thumbsup2

Typically connecting rooms are harder to come by and go quicker. So if adjoining rooms work for your group, then save the connecting rooms for those that really need it!;)

We booked thru Disney Travel & I did call HoJo's and request to be upgraded to the premium Disney view rooms. We will pay the difference upon check-in. I believe she said it would be around $15+tax per night. We need the microwave & I thought I read you could pay for a microwave for the standard rooms, but the price seemed a bit steep....so the upgrade made sense for us.

Hi :)

we booked a standard room through expedia and have organised with inhouse reservations to upgrade to a kids suite at check in.

WOO-HOO!!!!!! :banana::banana::banana:
All of my dates are now included!!! You just saved me $320!!! I wouldn't have thought to check this close to my dates! Thank you so much!!

6 out of our 7 nights are now at the ET rate!! :cool1: We are really hoping for our first night, May 22nd, to become available :)

If you haven't already I highly recommend adding HoJo's to your facebook.

They added more ent. rate dates for our trip in May/June and this is how I found out about it. I had already booked and had 2 days at the ent rate but after looking at my facebook one night, I saw more dates had been added!:woohoo:

They hadn't even had a chance to update their own website with the dates before they were sold out! And guess who was lucky enough to score a few of those dates!!:rolleyes1

thanks guys

So i won't bother upgrading to the view rooms then- you are right- more money for in the parks!
I requested inter-connecting rooms and explained I had a 3 year old and a 1 year old with me so they couldnt be down the corridor! Hopefully it will be Ok.

I also emailed to see if they had any kids suites as we would prefer these but they didnt come up as an option when we booked so i assumed they were sold out.

The entertainment rate is so good isnt it- so glad i joined this forum or i would never have known.

I dont actually have my entertainment book yet though- I am in Oz so need to ring and get one and keep forgetting- better do that while they are still only $15!

Sometimes you can get the entertainment card on Ebay for a couple of bucks as well. :thumbsup2

YES! I just bought my brand new entertainment card on ebay, cost me $1.61 total.

All you need is to show the card. So if you don't think you'll use any of the stuff in the book (I know I probably won't) then save yourself some money and buy it on ebay!

I just looked and there's a TON on there!:woohoo:

We are taking our first DL trip in October. Booked Disney view room. Anyone tell me if you can see the fireworks from room/balcony?

Is there a store close by that we could walk to for things like milk, cereal and diapers? I don't really want to order from Vons when we will only be there for 3 days......

Or is ordering my best bet?

We are staying in a kids suite.

Building one has a gift shop, it does have milk, cereal, and fruits. Not sure about the diapers, but my guess is they do.

What if I'm booking for December? Do I have to wait for the new Entertainment Book to come out? Doesn't the current one expire in October or something like that?

So, I could book my dates now just to make sure I get them & then call back when the new card comes out to get a better rate???
