HOJO Hints & Tips

The things we bring to make our stay at HoJo's even better -

  • Noisemaker
  • Surge Protector
  • Night Light - the bathroom is super dark
  • Extra long internet cable so we can sit on the bed and use the computer
  • Cooler - we put in a gallon of orange juice and a gallon of milk and use the litte fridge for water bottles and sandwich stuff
We just fill up the cooler with ice every day to keep our stuff cold and dump the water/ice out in the tub.

Excellent forum and a fantastic thread... thanks all for being so informative.

We are booked to stay at the HoJO in September. It will be a premium disney view room in building 1.

I plan on bringing my own Keurig K-cups - 4 k-cups per day will not just do it for three adults that love their coffee. :) But I'm very happy to hear that HOJO has a Keurig in every room as we use a Keurig at home and love it.

Here's a request? Does anyone have a photo of the fridge with its door open so we can see how big it is? lol If not, I pledge to take one when we are there and will post it here if nobody else does.

It is our second trip to DL but it must be about 7 years ago... the year Disney California opened up (anyone knows which year that was?). We stayed at the Westcoast Anaheim Hotel (changed ownership since then). Right beside that hotel or very close to it, I recall a 7-11 store. Is that store still open?? I wish we had a half decent grocery store or drug store like walgreens within walking distance where we can buy water bottles in cases. I know Von's delivers but read somewhere that they do not accept Canadian credit cards... not sure why that is a problem.

I love photos... so keep them coming and I promise to post my own when I get to HOJO and DL in Sept.

Thanks all.

Does anyone know if you can buy bottled water in or near Hojo's for a good price? We will be flying and don't want to buy water in the parks. Thanks!

That was seriously the best post!! Thanks so much for sharing!! I seriously didn't realize how close the water area and building 4 was to the corner of Harbor!

Like you guys that location and room type would be ideal!! LOVE IT! I'm calling today to have them mark it on our reservation!

Thanks so much for sharing!!
ps. your grand daughter is totally adorable!
Don't forget you have to phone the hotel directly, and ask for the inhouse reservations. They are only open mon-fri regular business hours. That way you are assured it will be done properly! :thumbsup2

Isn't she?? lol...and we have 3 more just like her! :thumbsup2 and a grand son as well. Here's a pic of the 2 oldest princess there, number 3 was too little for a princess dress so had to be Minnie, but we got her the Princess Aurora dress for her birthday in January when we went....number 4 little princess was just born this January so has not been to DL yet...

She looks like she's wondering why that big mouse lady is wearing the same dress as her... :lmao:

Their gift shop has large bottles, I'm pretty sure 1/2 gallon size, for a reasonable price. Don't remember exactly how much, but I bought several so I know they were not that much! ( I'm cheap :lmao: ) and the regular size bottles of water are only $1 from the pop machines! at least last time I got them they were.... brought a whole case in the car with us so didn't actually buy any of them this time...maybe someone else can confirm or deny this?

What is the closet like in the standards...Does it have a bar with hangers?

back tracking a bit here....in our room in building 4 second floor, the closet was HUGE...it had crib there...or was it a roll away cot??....and bar to hang clothes, more like a walk in closet, I joked to hubby you could actually almost use it as a room for a baby to sleep in :rotfl: We never even used it though cause there is an open closet right by the door, across from the bathroom where we hung what needed hanging, more convenient to the bathroom for getting dressed. The rest went in the drawers. but if you had a fair bit of luggage etc. it would be great to pack it away in there out of your way for your stay!

Thanks! I think the 1/2 gallon would work great! We plan to bring 1-2 small water bottle each & then we can just refill! That will be perfect!

Thanks -- and we'll be in Building 2!

Based on our 3 different stays in building 2 alone, I would phone the inhouse reservation and ask for your room to be on the side of building 2 to the left of the pool side entrance to the building (there's an entrance on the other side of the building too where you can park and unload your luggage nice and close to the building). 2nd floor or above. The only time we have been less than perfectly happy with our room was in building 2, bottom floor, to the right of the entrance, at the very end of the long hallway away from the main entrance. The room number was 2103 or maybe 04. our balcony as such was right beside the walkway so we didn't use it at all. The other 2 times we were on floors 2 and 4 respectively and both were great. Here's a pic of the pool at night taken from the 4th floor, this was back in november 2002

quick tip on Hojo room numbering system
first number is building number
second number is floor number
third/fourth number is room number
1703 is building one, seventh floor, room 03
2418 is building 2, fourth floor, room 18

Can you tell it's a rainy chilly saturday here with nothing else for me to do?? :lmao:

Link to Hojo's site, page with videos done by the wonderful Lorealle and Willie, showing the different room types and locations, pool, gift shop etc. they did an amazing job on these!! they take a while to load, at least for me....but sooooo worth the wait!!!

They are only open mon-fri regular business hours.

I know they have Saturday hours too because I have talked to in-house reservations a couple times now on Saturday mornings during the last few months when I made adjustments to our spring break reservations. I just don't know what the exact hours are.

Yep you're right! I called about ours on the off chance the front desk would be able to help and she said sat. till 1pm :)

Got it all...and thanks for the ice chest tip! I was bringing one for the milk, juice, water storage since we have kids...but I like the dumping in the tub and refreshing :) Easy as can be!!

:goodvibes Glad to help. We have a narrow cooler that holds 2 gallons really well. They didn't/couldn't slosh around or anything - so it doesn't take a lot of ice. We just take our ziploc bags that hold the ice to the ice machine every day and refill them. If we need to we empty the cooler of any water that might have collected at the bottom.

One other thing that I always take is a roll of paper towels, which gives me a great surface to work on if we're cutting bagels or making sandwiches or whatever.

Great ideas and got it all packed! THANKS!!

The closet is small with just a bar with hangers.

You keep your clothes in the desk drawers. There is no dresser. I thought that was weird as well.

The pool area was closed from 2:30 - 3:00ish one day. Not a big deal. At night I believe it was closing at 6:00 or so and it was open this morning at 10:00.

Ah not so good with the closet space - we will be there for 14 nights and we do struggle at the best of times with all the clothes we take. Do they have enough hangers - can you request extra or shall I pack some?

We are going in July so had hoped to go back to hotel for a swim in the early afternoon or maybe stay in park till evening and swim afterwards but again not so great if the pool may not be open. If one pool closes, does the quiet pool reamin open?

Someone else posted about having a large closet, so maybe it's just the kids suite with the small closet? And FWIW, there was a closet in both rooms. I'm sure you can request extra hangers...

I would bet the pool stays open later in July. Since it's just April and dark earlier they closed a bit earlier. And it was just the slides that closed early but the pool and hot tub stayed open later.

There's really only one pool. The big pirate themed area has a toddler pool, jacuzzi, and water play areas, but it's not a *pool*.
