Ok I am trying to figure out which building to stay at, I thought I would choose Premium to get a firework view. Then I read a review that someone who stayed in building 2 could also see the fireworks.

So building 1 has premium rooms and kids sweets, correct?
Building 2, quiet overlooking the pool, does it have firework view? Is there an elevator? Is there a microwave & frig? Do they have connecting rooms? Balcony?

Other buildings? What are they like?:confused3

Thanks in advance:love:

I can only tell you about Bldg 2 because thats where we stay every single time.;)

We never pay extra for a view room and opt instead for the standard rooms offered at the ET rate.

I can tell you that all King standards overlook the garden pool, there IS an elevator and 4 floors, our standard rooms always had micros and mini fridges, only some of the rooms over looking the pool have balconies while NONE of the rooms facing the back parking lot do. I know they have connecting rooms because on our last visit our room had a connecting door to the other room. It was locked of course since we weren't traveling with another party, but it was there nonetheless.;) And one of my favorite "secrets" about this end of the HoJo's....at night while swimming in the garden pool you have an excellent (and romantic) view of the fireworks.

So if you decide to stay in Bldg 2, which I highly recommend, then request a top floor with balcony as this will automatically put you facing poolside. IMO, it's not necessary to request a view room just for fireworks, unless you want to look outside your window in the morning and see Disney- then I say go for it. My family much prefers watching the fireworks from the pool anyways!:thumbsup2

Another vote for building 2. :thumbsup2

This link will show you the rooms and what amenities they have:

I used that same "chart" when trying to figure out THE perfect building to stay at. However, I've found that it's not 100% accurate. For example, we've stayed in a King Standard in Bldg 2 and had both a fridge AND a micro. I'm wondering if this is now standard in this room type??

Has anyone else experienced this?

How about the noise on the top floor? I was thinking a lower floor would muffle the highway noise. then again, the top floor would eliminate the sound of people walking overhead.

I was looking at the link with the layouts. What's the deal with the deluxe double queens with (ALT) next to them. Are these corner rooms. Has anyone stayed in one and would you recommend requesting a corner room? If so, which corner?

It's been my experience, especially at the HoJo's, that the top floor is always the quietest. I also try and request a corner room, away from the elevators to help elimate any elevator noise/traffic. I'm a bit of a pain about my special requests...but what can I say, it comes from working in the hotel industry!:thumbsup2 BTW, corner rooms are usually larger...

Also, with building 2, there are big automatic doors that lock after hours and you use your room key to then access. These doors are super noisy, so I would never want to stay on the first floor anywhere near these doors just for that reason.;)

A first floor corner room away for all that, might be nice. However, I can't stand noise above me so we always request a top floor.

Thanks, Chrissie! So, top floor, corner room should be the request. But which corner? Seriously, does it make a difference noise-wise. Which corner is furthest from the highway?

I would suggest that you request a corner room on the side of building 2 that "butts up" (sorry for the description, not sure how to word it) against the other buildings. Look at the map of their property, it's on the website I think, and you'll see that one end of bldg 2 has parking lots all around it and the other end is near the pavillion buildings. I would shoot for that end. So when standing at the garden pool and looking AT bldg 2, it would be on your right hand side. This way you are furthest away from the parking lot/road noise. Hope that helps.:goodvibes

Glad I am not the only one!

Oh you have no idea!:rolleyes1

Here's my HoJo's request list:

Standard room at ET rate

Building 2

Top floor

Corner

Away from the elevators

Balcony, so thus facing towards the pool

Extra pillows

Extra blankets, we NEVER use the top duvet/coverlet. These things are so rarely washed. At all the hotels I've worked in, you're lucky if it's once a month! And I've worked in some nice places...just thinking about some person getting out of the shower and putting their naked behind directly on the bed when the top duvet is on....NO THANK YOU!

Fridge AND micro (Hojo's is still saying that both are not in standard rooms, but it's been my experience that they are:confused3)

Early check in

Late check out (did you know you can check out as late as 4pm sometimes later!)

And this is just my request for Hojo's...some hotels the list is even longer!

Just to add my two cents here. I've only stayed on the ground floor and noise has never been a factor. I never hear anyone above us and the foot traffic is never bad. Do the corner rooms still have patio/balconies? I didn't think they did based on the picture of the rooms. I prefer the ground floor for two reasons:

Balconies make me nervous with a little one. Not that my little one would be climbing but still just gives me the heebie jeebies. Also the elevator rush in past experience is a pain. It may not be at HOJO's but I remember using the elevator at Desert Inn and it taking about 8 minutes just to get from the top floor to the ground floor with all the stops.

Hmm...I can't remember about the corner rooms and balconies. Anyone know??

I'm happy to hear that noise hasn't been an issue on the 1st floor. Did you stay in building 2? I would be curious to hear how the big doors, the pool, the elevator noise and the freeway right behind you would factor into staying on the 1st floor in bldg 2. For all those reasons, we just request top floor. But I do that wherever we stay...it's just our preference.

And the wait for the elevator has never been too long. The only issue I've had is when checking in and out with all our baggage, we had to take 2 elevator trips. The luggage cart AND our big jogging stroller would not fit comfortably in the elevator. It was a tight squeeze, but wait times were never too long IMO.

Thank you for all your expert advise and oppinions they will be VERY helpful!;)

What is the difference between Standard and Deluxe rooms? It looks like most of you choose standard so is Deluxe not any better or what?:confused3

Do you call and make your requests or can you do it when you make the ressies on the computor?:surfweb: Do you usually GET ALL those requests?:)

Yes, I have only stayed in building 2 and never noticed the noise of the doors or the freeway. The first time we stayed there, there was major construction going on with the Garden Pool, even that never bothered us. The work was done during the day when we were at the park. We did come back a few times for a nap for my son when he was younger but again, never bothered us at all.

SOmeone can correct me if I'm wrong but the standard rooms are all in buildings 4, 5 and 6. I do not believe there are elevators in those buildings. Also, they do not include the microwaves. I'm not sure of the other major differences. Maybe not having the newer beds that are so wonderful. :lovestruc It's worth doing the deluxe to me.

I always call and speak to in house reservations so they can apply the ET discount for me. (If you have the Entertainment Card and it's available on your dates). In house res are always so friendly and helpful.

So far we have always gotten our requests. I'm curious about the early check in from the OP, I've never requested that but I did after reading that post. We'll arrive around noon on a Sunday and we'd like to stay at the park until closing. I'd hate to have to leave the park at 3 or 4 just to unpack our stuff. Now that my son is older we go to close :)

I read on this link http://www.hojoanaheim.com/wp-content/themes/hojo/images/room_layouts.pdf that they have standard and dlx rooms in bldg 2 and the rooms are the same size and they don't look like there is really any difference. Maybe they DO have newer, nicer beds or something. The only other thing is that they have connecting rooms in dlx rms only. (my parents may be coming and it would be helpful babysiter wise if they connected.)

Thanks for that map, it is super helpful. We booked a deluxe queen in building two and requested the bottom floor. I'm not too worried about hearing other people come in and out, I'm worried about my 11 year old who seems to have cement blocks for feet disturbing people if we were on an upper floor. Never figured out how one boy can sound like a full herd of elephants.

Have you stayed in those rooms?
Actually, for us, our room on the top floor near that corner of the building was very noisy and I would not recommend requesting a room there. We stayed on the top floor near the end of that building (near the freeway side) and the noise from the freeway came right up to us. I've heard others mention that it was also noisy for them when they were in room on upper floors near that corner. We've never stayed on lower floors near that corner so I can't comment on that, but the best room we've had in that building was in the middle of the building, directly across from the pool, on the 2nd floor. It was so quiet there, and we loved it. I would recommend that spot and stay there again if possible. :)
