Hi there
Staying at Hojo's this coming week for the first time
Is there a free continental breakfast? I didn't see anything on their website but normally hotels in this price range have a free breakfast or something

If not we will probably go to Mimi's but I have never been there.
How is the food? The price?

Is the McDonald's close to Hojo's overpriced just because it is in the Disney area and people expect things to be overpriced in that area?

Mimi's is great - it's a place that we, as locals, dine at from time to time. You can also get muffins to go, which might be handy to take back to HoJo's.

I don't recall that McDonald's as being particularly overpriced although we've only been to that one a couple of times.

No, Hojo's doesn't have a free breakfast, most in the area are simply donuts and pastries anyway, and usually aren't worth counting for value. The food at Mimi's is very good, and the prices are only slightly higher than Denny's. We love Mimi's. An example of one of my favorites is a 3 egg omelet with Garlic spinach and diced tomatoes topped with smoky bacon, sliced tomatoes, jack cheese and avocado, with breakfast potatoes (they use red potatoes), a large muffin (I save for a snack) and a small orange juice for under $10. Check their website and sign up for their eclub to get coupons (free breakfast!)

McDonalds is priced slightly higher than my local McDs. But not outrageously.

Hojo's doesn't have breakfast but they do have a convenience store market on property that sells the staples like milk, cereal, bread (bagels maybe?) and fruit.

the convenience store thing is key, since all of the rooms have a fridge

Definitely sign up for the Mimi's clu! I managed to get a coupon for a free breakfast AND a coupon for a free lunch/dinner before we left. The key is signng up about two weeks before you go. There's sort of a "sweet spot" window to sign up...if you do it too early the first coupon will expire before you get there. Search the boards and I'm sure you will find that information--I just can't remember the exact time frame.

We enjoyed the food there quite a bit...we ate there twice!

Millie's, next to Mimi's, also has a good breakfast.
We didn't care for Millie's breakfast. We are probably too used to Mimi's. Also, their prices at the Anaheim location are a couple dollars a plate higher than their menu elsewhere.

You can also do an internet search for Mimi's cafe coupons and the month that we are currently in and can usually find coupons online that way :-)

Mimi's also does a great job packing to go breakfasts. It has Been a tradition for us to order when we get up. I run over, grab the food and bring it back. Just recently we received a coupon for a free four pack of muffins with a to-go order. Great for a lighter breakfast another day. Definitely search for coupons before going.

Mimi's was great! We ended up eating there almost everyday. Hojos doesn't have a free breakfast, but they have a mini convenience store on property where you can get cereal, milk, etc. Mimi's has good food, and the muffins are good to take back to your room for breakfasts, etc. As for the McDonalds, it's pretty much the same as the ones we have here in HI but be careful what time you go. We went late one night after the Fireworks, and it was soooo busy. It took so long to order, my daughter actually fell asleep! There were people ahead of me that ordered something small, like an ice cream or something, and they PAID, and actually LEFT because they couldn't wait for their order any longer! I don't know if that was a freak occurance, but I know I am never going back there again.

Mimi's is a national chain restaurant, so you get national chain restaurant type food. I've eaten at two different Mimi's (Phoenix, Denver) and haven't been horribly impressed. It is what it is.

We enjoy Mimi's ~ had our last 2 Thanksgiving day meals there, plus breakfast the day we drove home from our most recent visit - we have one 20 minutes from us but have never been. I wouldn't go for breakfast on a park day *unless the park opened at 10am - just do something quick *muffins, breakfast bars, pop tarts...* and be there 30 minutes prior to park opening, the 1st 2 hours Disneyland is open are easy, low crowds *even busy days.

Mimi's may very well be a national chain, but the one in Anaheim is really good. We have been there many times and their breakfast is very tasty and has large enough portions to share.

I would say that out of other national chains (IHop, Denny's, etc) Mimi's wins hands down.

As previous posters have mentioned, their dinners are pretty tasty too.

Don't forget to sign up for their email club about 2 weeks before your trip. You will get a buy one get one free breakfast coupon.

Have a good time.

We last visited in December 2009, but at the time, our group of 11 ranging in ages from 2-65 all thought Mimi's was really good. We had a couple dinners there, and a sit-down breakfast one morning. We usually just bought cereal from the HOJO convenience store and milk and had breakfast in our room. I don't know if they still do it, but at the time, if you went to Mimi's for dinner, they brought out a big basket of buns, banana bread, muffins for the table for dinner, and they would pack it up for you to take home (and usually would give some butter and knives and napkins). We used this a few times to add a little something more to our breakfast. HOJO just had the mini (individual) cereal boxes & bowls when we were there, but on our last 2 or 3 trips we would walk down to the 7-11 at the corner of Harbour and Katella and get a bigger box of cereal and bigger jug of milk, and sometimes a yogurt or something, and its a bit cheaper if you can agree on one type of cereal.

Definitely sign up for the e-club for coupons though. I think you can even print a couple copies and use them more than once.

This link has 10% off coupons for McDonald's, LaBrea Bakery in DTD, and for freebies at Rainforest Cafe.

Mimi's is very very good. We have eaten at the one by HOJO and our local one MANY times. They make espresso and specialty drinks too (mmmmm......Cinnamon Mocha Freeze.)

I had never been to Mimi's before until we stayed at HoJo's. I fell in love with their breakfast and now visit them quite a few times a year. My DH loves their hash, and I love their red potatoes and muffins!

We love Mimi's! Some of the breakfasts come with muffins & the portions are so big..we always take the muffins to go as a snack for later. :) and definitely sign up for the email club!! Awesome dea!! :thumbsup2
