Luke, Alexei, and Veronica had sat together in the common room, talking and discussing every subject under the sun, because it was the only way to keep themselves sane. They had eventually noticed the shy, fearful Ravenclaw Beauxbatons girl and had coaxed Ivy over. They continued talking as a group of four, unconsciously getting to know each other.
Lucas: Lucas suddenly stood up. He had had enough. He just couldn't sit here any longer. "All right, that's it."
Ivy: "What?"
Lucas: "There's all this fighting going on out there, and somewhere in there my godfather is risking his life. I have to help him."
Ivy: "But you can't, you're a prefect, and he's a fully trained auror and you're a fifth year! Besides, how far could you get on that ankle?" Ivy pleaded.
Lucas: He had to concede on the ankle problem. He turned to Veronica. "You can fix this, right?"
Veronica: "Well, yes, but I don't have any supplies or pain potions, and I don't think this is really a good time-"
Lucas: "You can fix this, right?" Luke repeated impatiently.
Veronica: Veronica sighed and nodded. "Right."
Lucas: "Please do this for me. I have to go find my godfather. He's the only family I have left!"
Alexei: Alexei was shaking his head. This was not a good idea, this would not end well.
Ivy: Ivy was also disagreeing quietly. In her mind, no one should be going out there. She certainly wasn't. She was a muggleborn, if they caught her, they would kill her.
Veronica: It was a strange thing for Luke to say, but it worked. Veronica knew a thing or two about the only family you have left. "All right, stay still. Episkey!"
Lucas: He grimaced as the bones clicked into place and his leg healed. Ripping off his cast, he said, "Thank you. I owe you one Nic." Then he was gone, out the door with only his wand.
Alexei: Alexei looked at Veronica. "You shouldn't have done that."
Veronica: Veronica looked at the ground. "I know. But I couldn't not do it. His ankle had to be painful."
Alexei: Alexei regarded Veronica. Giving him the opportunity to go, disobey orders and risk his life like that was incredibly foolish. But Alexei realized she truly cared about other people, was a talented healer, and didn't want anyone to be in pain, no matter what. And that was admirable.
