Professor Black: Melanie didn't want it brought up; she'd had enough for one day. She didn't say so, but she had never truly gotten over her mother's death. She had learned to live and cope with it, but Mrs.Black's death had been so sudden, so horrible..."It doesn't matter, Linus, it wasn't your fault." she said mechanically. "That was a long time ago."
Melanie had somehow released her protection after Linus had left, and no longer than a mere hour later the ministry had showed up and taken her. She didn't get to see her mother's grave; they wouldn't let her pack up her things. And so the little girl had been left with only her memory to go by at her other relative's.
She was verbally abused and neglected by them, being death eaters as well...But kind as she was, she didn't hesitate to give her opinion
(nicely) on any matter, and didn't take any abuse personally-she merely ignored it. That's why Hogwarts had been so comforting to her.
Melanie had, of course, been sorted into Gryffindor house, where she'd become instant friends with Evan. He'd been there for her when she'd bravely taken the howler for not being in Slytherin in front of the entire school, of which Dumbledore had heard, and he'd tried to get her away from them. (He did, but only for a year- it was unfortunate that her uncle had had connections with the ministry)
That was why Melanie had always wanted to be a school teacher, though auror training had been a close second.
OOC: okay, I think the general back story is finally finished!
