Professor Black: Once her students were all situated in their desks, she called the class to order. "Welcome to charms. I am pleased to announce that this year there has been a very minor change in our curriculum-those students that are NEWT level (OWL students are welcome to join in as well, if they wish) will be studying the patronus charm; however, it is particularly difficult to produce, as many adults have trouble with it. Needless to say, many of you will not succeed without lots of practice. Many ask why a patronus charm would be useful if there aren't any dementors at Hogwarts. Could anyone answer that for me?"

Gab: patronus? This class would be easy. She had done it only once before, a long time ago, but remembered it like it was just yesterday. The beautiful glowing blue wolf that appeared made her feel so happy. She loved this spell.

Jane: She loved this. Her's is a calico cat. She had a little difficulty with the spell, but could manage it. She wondered what Vanessa's is. Probably a venomous snake!

Cindy: Cindy found Jackson and brought him his stuff. "I grabbed it for you," she said, not wanting to bring up the question buzzing in her head: Why did you leave? She sat in the front of the class, eager to learn the Patronus charm. She'd only seen it once, when her mother was giving her an example. Learning a Patronus would be amazing!

Vanessa: Vanessa slipped in the classroom door and smiled. Patronuses? Awesome. She'd never tried the charm before, and was eager for something that was said to defend people. And send messages. It would be easier and probably safer to speak to her father, if she could master it... She rose her hand. "They can be used to send messages," she said to the Professor.

Professor Black; "Very good; 5 points to Slytherin. A patronus is a very powerful charm. To produce it, you need to concentrate hard on the brightest thoughts you have. I'll demonstrate, then you can work on them on your own." Thinking of her best childhood memories, she said "Expecto patronum!" A swan conjured from her wand.

Jane: Not thinking anything would happen, she muttered the charm. Suddenly, a silver calico erupted from her wand tip. She jumped backwards as the calico pranced around the room, chasing the swan.

I'll be off we r going 2 basement not much time this gonna be a long night talk 2 ya 2morrow if any1 needs 2 power play my characters go ahead. I have never wanted coffee so much -.- XD

Jane: Not thinking anything would happen, she muttered the charm. Suddenly, a silver calico erupted from her wand tip. She jumped backwards as the calico pranced around the room, chasing the swan.

Gab: she recited the charm, and thought of her happiest memories. Then a beautiful silvery blue wolf shot out of her wand and silently howled at the ceiling before proceeding to run around.

Lucas: Lucas was having a hard time thinking of a happy enough memory. Every one Luke tried he kept coming up with wisps, somewhat of a patronus but not a true form.

Veronica: Veronica didn't have very many good memories from school a all, but there was her favorite memory from one summer....She closed her eyes and said loudly, "Expecto Patronum!" When she opened them, a silvery fox had joined the other Patronuses running around the room.

Professor Black: She was astonished to see do many students get the charm on their first try. "Good work, all of you. I suppose you all are NEWT level for a reason...Don't worry if you haven't gotten it yet, as it does take time, and to those of you who have managed: don't let yourself become discouraged if you cannot send messages quite yet. It takes a large amount of time to get to that level, which we will be working on throughout the year. Which brings us to your homework: those of you who haven't produced a full patronus should practice the charm and those of you who have should work hard to produce a stronger form." Normally she would never teach such a complex spell on the first day of school, but Professor Linus's threat had her thinking that she might a well prepare them for any way of communication she knew they might need if danger did come. "Class dismissed."

OOC: I'd say but we don't learn in the HP books! I guess they'll eventually work on the charm-we 'll just reference it instead of using incantations.

Lucas: Lucas gathered up his things. He was disappointed he couldn't manage the charm, all because he couldn't find a stupid happy enough memory! He was always good at Charms! Luke would have kicked something, but his ankle was funky enough already.

Veronica: Veronica was pleased with herself. She'd gotten it on her first try! Her patronus was a fox! Veronica liked foxes. She knew she definitely had to write her parents about this! She knew they would be proud of her. "Thank you for the great lesson Professor!"

Professor Smith: Professor Smith stood in his room, the door locked. He looked at his handiwork, and decided the room looked pretty good. he had turned his classroom into a Greek temple. Satisfied, he pointed his wand at the door. "Alohomora," he cast, unlocking the door. He then walked to stand by his desk.
