(I am not sure exactly where this goes...it is not a budget nor a restaurant thing... please feel free to move if so desired)

Hi All,

I know this has been discussed before but... we have a $50 gift card from Restaurants.com and would like to use it at House of Blues in DTD. Is there any tricks that we need to know to use it? I assume you get the coupon from restaurants.com and take it there. leave it sitting on the table and make the order. the website says that you have to spend a minimum of $35 does that mean you have to spend $35 on top of the value of the certificate. Such that if we use a $50 gift cert that we have to spend $85 or does the total order have to be more then $35. I know if the GC is larger then the order, they will not give money back... We have never used anything from Rest.com and just feel it is too good to be true... Has anybody had any "gotcha" situations using it at HOB? We plan to just do a simple dinner nothing special. Thanks for the help it is appreciated.

The total order must be more than $35.

The biggest "catch" is that only one certificate may be used per table (not per family or any other configuration). Also, tip is added automatically. You may want to let the server know that you have it rather than put it on the table and assume they will see it.

If I were in your situation I probably wouldn't use the whole gift certificate on a HOB coupon. Unless you think you'll be spending that much. It would be too much for us (especially since alcohol usually isn't included, if memory serves, in what's covered by restaurant.com coupons), so I would probably get a $25 one and just pay whatever is over in cash. Then use the other part of the restaurant.com giftcertificate on something else (though there's really nothing in my particular area).

That's just what I might do, though.

And YES, if you can actually use it, it IS almost too good to be true! And yet it is true. (if only there were some decent restaurants in my area that participate)

That is my primary problem, there are no restaurants in my area but since we go to WDW once or twice a year then we will use it there. I think you are correct the $25 is probably the way to go. Thanks to the both of you i do appreciate the responses. We leave in a week and half so i need to request the cert now. thanks again. :)

I purchased two $25 certificates--one for Shula's and one for Blue Zoo. I paid $6 for both.

on restaurant.com a $50 certificate usually has a minumum of 100.00.
the 35.00 min is for the $25. You have to click on the certificate amount and the specifics for that amount come up. The one that is listed at first is just for the lowest amount.

gotcha, did not catch that. Since i am cashing in a gift card that would have been confusing/surprise. Thanks

Also, the requirements can differ. At BB KIngs you could use it towards food, alcohol and merchandise. You may want to call the restaurant directly and ask what it can be used for. If you buy alcohol, the bill goes up and up:scared1:

We easily spent over 200.00 dollars at BBKings, so my 7.00 investment in a 100.00 certificate was well worth it!!!!:rotfl:
