Hmmmm - Resort Hunting Again - POFQ or CSR

Which would you choose??

  • POFQ - Port Orleans French Quarter

  • CSR - Coronado Springs Resort

Our vote would be for CSR too! Pepper Market has great choices and our kids love the Dig Site.

Of the mod.'s we've stayed at POFQ, POR and CBR. I wanted to try CSR but when we visited one time it seemed so spread out. I don't know if it's any bigger then POR and CBR but it sure seemed like it. The food court looked great but I hear alot of complaints about the way you pay and that they add gratuity (we've never eaten there so I don't know for sure). Also, CSR has a convention center and I didn't want to see business types walking around in suits, so that was another turn off for me. POFQ is beautiful. We really liked the food court and the pool. DH loves CBR and I love POR. I think all the mod.'s are nice. :)

Agree with F1Julie - for us the main advantage to CSR was the lack of people around in the daytime. Seems like many of the rooms are single people down for a convention which makes for a much quieter experience than all rooms full of families. Also these same people are in meetings all day which means the pool area is much emptier and the busses are completely empty. Just back from CSR & I think only once did we ride a bus with anyone else on it - certainly never had to stand, etc. Also you can have internet access and we had no trouble going to the business center and getting our boarding passes printed out for free. There's also a health club, if that makes a difference.

But I think the main difference was it had a more sophisticated, business, relaxing feel. PO I think has a more exciting, family, Disney feel. Personally, I love the quiet!

I will concede it was a HUGE resort. We were in the Casitas, near the main bus stop, but after the first day they closed that road for construction so we had to drive ALL the way around the Cabanas, Ranchos, and most of the Casitas to get to our parking area, then walk a long way to our room. With younger kids (mine are 9-12) it would probably have been a real hassle. We requested the top (4th) floor to avoid the problem of having people stampeding above us and got a strange glance - apparently not one of the things normally requested - guess most people want the first floor!

So do those of you who love CSR think their bus system is really good, even better than many other resorts? Less crowded, less wait and all of those good things.

I definitely think less crowds. The buses for CS also only serve that resort so you don't have to wind through many. It worked out well for us being in the casitas that we were midway between 2 bus stops. We'd walk to the main stop in the morning, which was the last stop on the route and be right on our way to the parks. But when we returned each time, we could get off at the first stop and also be near our rooms.

As far as wait time, I think that's always luck of the draw. If the buses consistently come every 20 minutes (they were out there timing them in the morning at CS while we were there), then when you get there determines if you'll wait 1 or 19 minutes. But at least you'd probably never have to wait for another bus because that one was full (like happened to us many times at the All Stars!).

We like CSR better than POFQ. We liked the theming better, but it is pretty spread out, although the grounds DO make the walking really fun. The pool is really awesome, and the Pepper Market is great. To me it sounds like a choice of which theme you like better ultimately.
