HM if you go during the summer and it’s the middle of the day can be a very hot ride to wait in. But if you do standby during the morning the queue is actually fun for kids as there is stuff to do in it. POC is inside for the wait so you are at least out of the sun and heat, but less to do while you wait. Personally I prefer to FP HM because we go in the summer, but my travel companions prefer to FP POC because they find the POC wait way to boring and long.

The other thing to keep in mind is that both HM and POC are normally FP you can get as your 4th.

It's 6 of one, half dozen of the other. Both are easy to get anytime. POC line is more likely to sink to 5 minutes at times, but we never do standby anyway since there is always FP+ available.

I actually struggle with this one myself - as I hate waiting in line for either of these - but they are must rides for me. If you give up the parade - sometimes you will find POTC without a FP for a 15 minute listed stand-by time around that time. If you book your 3 pre-planned FP's in the morning - you can frequently get either of them as a 4th for later in the day - but I've had no luck personally trying to get one by late in the afternoon. Both rides - you can walk on at RD as most folks head to other things. And they aren't bad waits at park close, either.

Mid-day - if I had to wait for one - in mid-summer - POTC because its queue is cooler. Boring as all get out, but the temperature break is nice. Truthfully - as I can skip the mountains - I almost always FP both.....

I personally have found it easier to get additional fastpasses for POC later. So, I usually FP HM and then look for POC later.

If you're there for rope drop, I can usually hit POC as a walk on even after I've already done BTMR. HM can usually be decently short at the start of the day too, but POC makes more sense with my rope drop plans so I would FP HM initially and either ride POC right away or pick it up later.

Both are definitely doable as 4th or later, but I find HM usually takes a little more work. Not really a big deal but if there's nothing else to make the decision by I would go with that.

Haunted Mansion! But you can easily get FP for both later in the day. If you arrive early in the morning the line for both will be short anyway! I find that POC & HM lines are never really that bad anyway

Well we have never for either. But we go in early May. So no line. I guess if I had to choose. HM. POTC line always goes fast. Imho

This. We FP HM for first time ever for our upcoming June trip for this reason. Pirates line is dark, air conditioned, and there's walls to lean against while you wait.

Ok, based on my experience tonight, definitely get HM if you know you want it. I spent a ridiculous amount of time with two of us looking to try to get HM with a window starting between 6:30 and 7:30. Like we started looking at 5 and could not get anything to pop in that time frame (we were trying to work around an ADR and trying to make it an early evening). We finally changed plans to stay later to use an 8:00 that finally popped but we easily spent over half an hour with two of us looking for a party of two (in lines, while walking, while waiting for dinner). Had trouble with Splash early afternoon too. Bah humbug, FP availability.

About even. I would FP HM just because it seems Pirates is a little easier to get a 4th+ FP for. But we have not had much trouble getting a 4th + Fp for either. The queue for Hm is outside and pirates is inside.

HM- POTC is almost always available as a 4th FP... if not, the queue is usually 15 mins or less in the morning or later at night. I usually don't FP either of these rides and have never had to wait a very long time to ride them.
