I know of no situation where people are locked out of studios at eleven months completely

I think I've read of VGF owners (long before BPK was added) being locked out of studios for early December at 11 months. It was a significant complaint, because the points were so expensive and villas cost so many points per night that many owners had only enough points for a studio and couldn't bump up to a 1BR.

Yeah, I remember that as well. At the time, we thought it might be the fixed weeks.

Aulani might be the exception for this? I am a first year member so not sure if I got lucky or it's normal for Aulani. I booked one week for the first week of December at the end of July and all the 1-bedrooms and the Studio oceanview were wide open. Even right now, the 1-bedroom oceanview and pooside garden view are still available the first 2 weeks.

Aulani has its own booking patterns. Oceanview and one bedrooms often stay open for a long time. I can't remember which months are hard to get at Aulani (its Spring - March? June?), but there are a few - it just isn't the early December of WDW.

Likewise, HHI and VB don't follow WDW patterns. Both are easy to get in the Winter - and difficult to book in the Summer if you don't book early.

Yes. I’ve been trailing behind the walker horde for majority of my dates at my home resort the last few years

I joined the walking club for my stay at BWv starting this Sunday, standard studio. This after getting shut out for July.

Did the same for 4th of July trip @ AK V

WL & stalked BWv. Was only able to get one night there over 4th of July trip this year @ 31 days prior. Modified the walked AKV trip

Same as with WLv (thanksgiving thru December time frames). It’s really a tough grab

For 4th of July 2024, a month out of 12months didn’t do walking trick. I grabbed crumbs via walkers’ cancellations at AKV V studio. Rather stressful TBH

We travel during popular DVC times. You do what you do to make your family happy

However, we did buy where we wanted to stay. Rarely switch at 7 months

Wow, didn't know people have to do such tricks to snag reservations at home resort for popular rooms at popular times. Had to search walking after all these references VGF studios should not require shenanigans like this now or in the future, right?

Really like the home resort and would be happy being there, but yeah definitely learning now that it wouldn't have made much difference whether direct/resale if only traveling at those times since it seems unlikely to get any longer stay elsewhere at 7 months.

Makes sense. I would say from Spring break through Summer Hawaii in general is pretty busy, but March through April I suspect is the period that's harder to get? For one it's Spring break, and two most of April has a lower point chart vs March.

For DLX studios perhaps, but not for the hotel rooms.
