HIS and HERS trip report for the ages: Disneymoon 1/8/07-1/13/07- Completed!!!

This has been a really cool TR! Not only was it a wedding TR but its a his/hers...LOVE IT!

We sat at the same table in CRT back on our honeymoon and this trip a CM from Ohana told us they call it the "Romance Table". Apparently she used to work there and its an inside joke with the Cm's!

Hiya folks! Happy Friday!:thumbsup2

Sorry, no update today! Joe has really been slacking on his share of the writing (although, in his defense, he has had a rotten week of weather to be out delivering the mail!). I will get him going this weekend:surfweb: and promise something new soon!!

Everyone have a great weekend!

This is such a fun trip report, and your pictures are fabulous!! Thanks for sharing!! :thumbsup2

Friday January 12th 2007: Part II

We kept heading toward the pack of the park, checking out The Chronicles of Narnia exhibit along the way. It is kind of cute, but they could have done a lot more with this space and props that it was pretty disappointing.

After Narnia, we headed back to the Backlot tour. I found this particularly interesting today, because there were some new props from the Pirates of the Caribbean movies added.

We started poking around the Streets of America, hoping to take some silly photos as we went. However, the singing in the rain umbrella was missing (a real bummer for me, since we have a photo of me with the umbrella from every single trip!) and most of the sets were blocked off (due to taking down the Osborne lights, I think). Plus, it was filled with people! So no silly photos!

Next we caught Muppets 3-D which is always good for a laugh!

Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular was just about to start, so we headed over. We enjoyed the show, but it was a little different than the usual show. There was no first scene (you know, the one with the large boulder), and it wasn’t quite the same.

It was nearing 3:00pm, so as we were leaving Indiana Jones, people are lining the streets, waiting for the afternoon parade. Joe and I made one more hopefully pass at the Great Movie ride, but ended up skipping it, due to the 45 minute wait time!

Now, it was mid-afternoon. We were hot. We were kind of tired. We were getting sick of the unusually larger crowds than we expected. We were bummed by the longer wait times. We had a 4:15pm reservation at the 50’s Prime Time Café, but did we really want to go? MGM felt like it was letting us down today.

So we sat down. And chatted about what else we wanted to do at MGM: we wanted to see Fantasmic that night, but did we really want to wait around for it?

Then Joe made the suggestion that changed all the plans for the rest of the day: “Why don’t we go back and see Wishes one more time? I would like to see them from Main Street, and we haven’t been able to all week yet?”

That’s it! That’s what we will do!

So we made a quick call to the dining reservation line to cancel our 50’s Prime Time ADR, and make a reservation at Artist’s Point back at the Wilderness Lodge, we just had one more thing to do before heading out of the park.

We made our way back to Tower of Terror to use our Fastpasses, and pretty much walked on the ride. The CM that lead us into the library for the video told Joe and I that we would be staying in the honeymoon suite on the top floor, and to be careful on the elevator ride up!

We had an excellent ride, with about 5 drops or so, and then headed out of the park and back to the Wilderness Lodge.

Narnia wasn't all that bad. I remember it being really hot out that day, so it was nice to be inside! It's a shame that the snow wasn't real...The skull cages from POC in the Backlot tour were pretty cool. I caught a quick glimpse of them as we were heading towards the "Earful Tower" and I pointed them out to the Mrs. We ended up driving right by them though, and the driver pointed them out.....still, pretty cool.

Indy was a little weird without the first segment. I think they said they were having technical difficulties that day with it so they cut right to the arabian village scene. Normally, I think that MGM is my least favorite park, which is odd considering it has two of my favorite rides in it (Tower of Terror and the Rockin' Rollercoaster), but I was about ready to head out of there. I think it was Kim who came up with the idea of Artist's Point, and that ended up being a great idea.

How can they even call it "Indiana Jones" without the giant boulder?! Farse.:confused3

My husband and I have done the same thing on many occasions and it has always worked our great! Artist Point was a great meal for us!! ENJOY!

Friday January 12th 2007: Part III

We had never dined at Artist’s Point, so we stopped to look at the menu on the way back to the room. We decided that since we had plenty of time before our ADR, we would take one last dip in the pool and then head back to the room to make ourselves presentable for dinner. The pool was just glorious to relax mid afternoon, and we even had a few minutes to hang out in the lobby and scope out the gift shop one more time before we had to get ready for dinner.

At 5:30pm, we checked into Artist’s Point, and we were seated less than two minutes later. Dave was our server, and he was great. I loved this restaurant. It was absolutely beautiful! It was romantic! It was just perfect.

I had a martini, and Joe had some wine. We had a cheese plate for an appetizer. I had the Hatfield Pork Chop, and Joe had the Grilled Buffalo Sirloin Steak for dinner. Everything was just absolutely delicious! One of the best meals I have had in a very long time.

After dinner, we changed into some warm comfy clothes and headed out to the boat dock to head back to the Magic Kingdom. We met a cute little family from California, a mom and two girls, and they told us all about their ‘boring’ Dad back home. Dad was boring, and didn’t want to come to WDW with his wife and girls (HOW SAD!).

We made it to the Magic Kingdom with plenty of time before Wishes, so we took a couple more photopass pictures in front of the Castle.

DisneyPhotoImage2.jpg

And then we staked out a spot to watch Wishes. We stood right in the middle of Main Street, between Casey’s and the Ice Cream Parlor- PERFECT! Wishes got to me, just like it always does, and I was just so happy to be at Disney on my honeymoon!

We waited for most of the massive crowds to make their way out of the park and headed up to the hub and the partners statues. We sat down with Walt and Mickey, and just stared up at the beautiful castle, watching the colors slowly change.

Before we knew it, we were hearing the Kiss Goodnight one more time, and started to make our way out of the park. The boat to the Wilderness Lodge had some extremely long lines, but the CM up front was very entertaining telling the entire queue some Disney Trivia. When we got to the front of the line, he even announced that we were honeymooning, and everyone clapped.

We got back to the Wilderness Lodge after one of the best nights all week, and packed up most of our stuff, because tomorrow morning, we would be checking out.

Next time on ‘His and Hers Trip Report for the Ages’: The FINALE!

Artist's Point does have a dress code, so we had to make ourselves cute before we could go in. It was well worth it though. Our ADR was for 5:30, and I think that the place opened at 5:30 since there was practically nobody else in there! (when we got there, at least....it did fill up towards the end) The buffalo was fantastic. Pretty much the best steak I've ever had. It was cooked perfectly, and it came with sweet potatos au gratin....mmmmmm........The wine was suggested to go with it, and it paired very well.

Then, we were off to the MK to see Wishes for the 3rd and final time of the trip. Even though watching from the top of the Astro Orbiter was a once in a lifetime chance, and a great view, I think I still prefer having the castle in front of me for Wishes (no, no....i'm not ungrateful, I appreciated the magic very much indeed!) All in all, I was really happy with how the day turned out. Wishes and Artist's Point were worth missing Fantasmic for, and it was a very nice way to end all of the WDW magic...

I have a question. For as many times I have been at the MK I have never heard the Kiss Goodnight. What is it? I guess with kids, we scatter shortly after Wishes, but before the Kiss.

I have enjoyed reading your TR and seeing your pictures. I hate endings....especially at WDW!!

It really isn't anything major. If you stay and wait long enough, there is a little announcement saying thank you for spending your day at the Magic Kingdom (and a few other things, I think) and they change the color/display shapes (hearts/stars) on the castle and it sparkles. Thats about it.

We just happened to catch it twice this trip, and had never seen it before that. Since we were unwilling to leave the park just yet, it was a nice little end of night treat.

Saturday January 13th

We got up at 8:00am one last time, showed up, finished packing, said goodbye to our room, and checked out by about 9:15am. We headed right over to the Grand Floridian to check out the resort and have breakfast at 1900 Park Fare. The Grand Floridian is just beautiful and I can’t wait for the day to come when I can actually stay there.

Cinderella’s Coach was there for a wedding, being pulled by six miniature horses. I caught a few glimpses of the bride riding away through the windows.

We checked into 1900 Park Fare and were seated within minutes (after a photo with Mary Poppins, of course!). I had made this reservation because Joe loves breakfast (and lots of pancakes), and I thought that the resort and characters would be a nice touch to our last day. Breakfast was yummy, and we met quite a few characters, although we didn’t wait around for all of them to stop at our table.

Next we headed to Downtown Disney, as there were a lot of items that I wanted to pick up. We got some scrap booking items, and ordered an ornament to be shipped from the Christmas Store. We picked up 3-4 pins from the pin trading station, and a few t-shirts and ‘must have’s’ from the World of Disney Store.

After a few hours of shopping, we succumbed to the fact that we really needed to start heading to the airport, to repack all of our bags with these new items!! We got to MCO absurdly early for our flight, which worked out well since we had to repack our suitcases, and had a hard time finding the Jet Blue check in counter.

Once we checked our bags, we decided to stop and have a bite to eat at Chili’s, our first non-Disney meal in several days! How sad!

We then headed through security and to our gate.

Before we knew it, we were onboard and in flight- on our way home from our Magical Honeymoon. I looked out the window and saw one of the most beautiful sunsets I have ever seen. The sky was just ablaze with hues of pink and orange.

And in the back of my mind I couldn’t help but think: this is the sunset of our wedding and honeymoon. This right here. It’s all over.

As I watched the light fade away, I was a little sad that it was all over . . . but I was also content, because I knew tomorrow’s sunrise, the sunrise of the beginning of our life together, would be just as beautiful.

Like any vacation, this one had to come to an end. Thankfully, Kimmy had planned a breakfast for us at 1900 Park Fare at the Grand Floridian. It was nice to get to check out the resort a little before breakfast, since we've only really ever seen it from the monorail or the ferry across the 7 Seas Lagoon! It was very nice on the inside, and I can't wait to stay there one day! ...maybe as an anniversary present, who knows! Breakfast did not disappoint, I ate a ton....and it was all really good!

Unfortunately, as we left Downtown Disney and headed to the airport, I started to get the feeling that it was all over....our wedding, and honeymoon.....and it was back to normal life. I was a little happy to be heading home, since I hadn't been home in so long. However, it was bittersweet as I didn't really want to leave Florida! I never want to leave, and come back to freezing cold Massachusetts....but, what can you do??? All in all, it was an amazing trip, from first arriving all the way through the end. I couldn't have asked for anymore, everything was wonderful. Now, I was starting to get excited about getting out new lives started as husband and wife....

But we ARE!! Right before our Disney Cruise! WOOHOO!!!!!!!!!!! :woohoo:

Great job guys. Thanks for sharing.

Oh yeah!! I forgot that was in there! I wrote this all up way before we booked the GF for one night before the cruise! So silly of me!!

Glad you enjoyed the report!!:goodvibes
